Well Pliskova mounted a comeback in the 2nd set but alas she woke up too late, 6-1, 7-6.
Whose QTR just blew up?

I know some people don't like Mary Carillo as a commentator, but she just used the word "zoinks." That's even better than Gilbert-speak, let's face it.
I will spend the rest of my tennis viewing life wondering why some of you guys hate Carillo so much. To each her own, I guess.Would rather walk buck naked through a room full of rattlesnakes then hear Carillo's screeching.
Or endure root canal without anesthesia rather than her hear her laughing at her own jokes.
Prefer drink a trough full of slolp than endure Carillo's smug analysis and endless parttle.
OTher than that she's OK.
You've never seen Chrissy's long lost daughter? She has great variety. Got to the QF of Wimby last year dismissing a couple of big scalps.Sorry to see Venus go, but Muchova (who I'd never heard of) played really well.
Don’t make excuses for Pliskobot. This is all mental for her. She is the #1 seed and can’t handle it

Just finished watching Osaka and her emphatic win over Giorgi who can be a tricky opponent.
Osaka told ESPN.
" I feel like I want to be the player that you can't tell I'm in pain,".explaining that her left hamstring injury is not healing as quickly as she would like.
Pliskova on her loss,
'I didn't serve that great, especially early in the match. But that's how it is sometimes.I'm not a robot,so I don't have to play every day amazing.' Hey please explain well you certainly did not play amazing today.

The reason I mentioned about being #1 seed is because she's been the top seed before at some other tourneys and she didn't play well.I was not making excuses for Pliskova at all, just pointing out why I think this new resurfaced HC which is player faster than 2019 USO does not suit her game. She is very one dimensional,if that serve is not working her whole game goes downhill, and she does not have a 'B' plan at all., also her movement is a factor,I will take on board your comment regarding the pressure of being seeded No 1 for the USO,after Barty and Halep did not play this year.

Playing in her first tournament in over 3 years, due to the birth of her son,Tsvetana Pironkova defeats no 10 seed Garbine Muguruza 75 63.
BTW Garbine snapped the head completely off her racquet....Marat Safin would have been proud lol!
Gabine is the WTA's version of the little girl with the curl.
"When she was good,
She was very very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid."

BTW one of the reasons Pirokonkova decided to come back to tennis, when the WTA eased its rules for returning mothers.Under the new system, she was able to come back and use the ranking No123 when she left the tour. With all the withdrawals from this year's USO,it was high enough to get her straight into the main draw.
