Team Theim tees off on the first set and is up a break in the 2nd set.

Team Theim is humming along like a well tuned Austrian sports car......

Why the hell is he doing a Rafa,to return serve near the ball kid? Nagel serve is not that powerful lol!
One of the journalists said Nagel serve reminds him of Sara Errani :)

I have strange feeling about Nadal wining RG. I think there is more chance Djoker to win USO than Nadal to win RG. Some subjective feeling. Watching tennis court is awkward. When i see NBA, there are at least ligths off and are in shadow. In tenis all are under same light. But show must go on. On Tour de France at least people don't yell on cyclers.

Don't be a hater, Margaret. :D Theim is a valiant fighter with the heart of a lion, but I'm not biased at all. Objectively speaking of course.

I loved Francoise Durr and yet her serve made Errani look like Raonic's....

That is actually a very interesting observation about how strange these events look at the moment. I think there is more uncertainty in the air because of the settings. That said, I don't think Djokovic is affected at all (if anything, the absence of the crowd in New York may help him a little bit). And I also don't think Nadal will be sluggish at Roland Garros. It was smart of him to just focus on the clay and get his rhythm for Rome and Roland Garros. He will be so locked in on getting #20 that I doubt you will see a let-up from him. But not having the normal crowd at Chatrier in a Djokovic-Nadal final would throw in a new dynamic that may play to Djokovic's advantage.

Have to say I like Shapovalov's game. I noticed what he can do last year at the Paris Masters with his shotmaking. There is some explosiveness and fearlessness there. He has a nice forehand and can really hit some wicked angles with it. I agree with Brad Gilbert though that his return approach is tedious and a waste of energy.

I agree, I would call his game sloppily explosive....

You know what never mind the Canadian players I am actually rooting now for Berrettini just to annoy the Nadal haters that keep bringing him up to bash Nadal’s draw last year. Let’s go Berrettini, win the USO and show everyone that you are the real deal, you sexy man. :flexed-biceps: :trophy:

I see @kskate2 's honey boy is closing in on a straight sets victory, if he can get it done in this TB. Forza Matteo!

I see that. The question I need answered is why he's adopted the wolfman jack look lately. :pleading-face:

Just sayin', but posters who are not Nadal fans often seem to have that "strange feeling" about Nadal and RG right about this point before the tournament, and it rarely comes good. Someday someone will be right, but it's hardly going to qualify as a premonition...mainly just wishful thinking.

Raonic is out so much for him making a deep run at us open like a lot of people was saying, I knew he was going to lose in the first week, Raonic has never been able to win any big title and not going to start at his age right now.
