Typical; Johnson upsets Isner, then goes out in the next round! How does he even stay in the top 100? I played like that 30 years ago! He has no real weapons! He just made Nole's path a little easier!
Why are you such a downer? Berankis is not a nobody. Not even sure where you're going with this. Johnson made Djokovic's path a bit easier. I doubt Steve Johnson going out did. (PS: Why do I doubt that you ever played like that? PPS: I know that you have me on ignore, so I just post this to diss you. :face-with-tears-of-joy: )

In other news: Not shocked that Fritz beat Simon. A bit surprised that the Spaniard Davidovich Fokina beat Hurkacz. Londero took Coric to 5, and Coric has to deal with Tsitsipas next. That long match won't help him.

I don't know why I even respond to you and the other troll. Do you think I'm campaigning for the notion that Nadal didn't deserve that win? I'm not going to re-debate the whole 2017 US Open with you, and yes, I've been one who has said all along that the top half was the complicated part of the draw. (Which Nadal anchored and Fed was in.) Rublev and Anderson have no point in the conversation. Nadalfan2013 was trying to make out that this tournament, when, as he prematurely asserts, Djokovic wins it, won't be worth as much as a regular Major. I only pointed out to him that there were more top men's players that didn't post in 2017 than haven't made it to this one. MY point is: that doesn't matter. There is a quorum. They show up, and they all have to play a maximum of 7 matches. It's not like if it's only Novak, Rafa, Roger and then a bunch of rhubarbs, even when it feels like that. It's a Major, and it's being played, and whoever wins it will deserve it. Full stop.
fair enough major win is a great NO matter who is playing but we All know djokovic is going to win so takes Away from the event a little bit if both Nadal and federer was playing it would make a great us open and on top of thiem would make things harder for djokovic at least it could still be good anyway.

Djokovic hasn't won it yet. I expect Thiem, Medvedev and Tsitsipas to have something to say about it, at the very least. And there are two former champs in the mix: Cilic and Murray, though I wouldn't bet money for either to make it out of the 4th round. And Roger hasn't won this title in 12 years. The next gen are making inroads, so, besides Nadal, they're really the ones that have a chance.

I don't think djokovic will lose to anyway besides Thiem medvedev Tsitsipas, the way he's playing 24-0 this season its like 2011 all over again unstoppable but question to you do you really think djokovic is not going to the us open for a 4th time?

Djokovic is a formidable player, no matter who was in this tournament. And as you mention, he's unbeaten this year, in regular tournament events. Do I think he's going to win the US Open this year? I'd be foolish to bet money against him. Do I think it's a foregone conclusion? I do not. It's not like he's looked unbeatable over the last week or so. I don't think you can compare this year to 2011 or 2015. It's like no other. Plus, the kids have grown up. Let's see how it plays out.

Yes he is 24:0 this year, but he is by far not the player of 2011-2016 anymore.
Slower, less agressive/emotional and a bit less motivated/focused.
He was several times on the edge to lose.

He can lose to any of the three, but if i hope its not to the austrian *****.

Djokovic is motivated to be GOAT, at least that. But still has 2-3 years of active play and his coach know how to win GS with wild card.

Some players like to make their lives difficult unnecessarily! How many times does Nole lose focus or "go off" dropping a set inexplicably? :exploding-head:
Oh yes, that’s truth. He tormented us so often:angry-face:

I don't think it is inexplicable. He has never been fully comfortable at the US Open. He doesn't dominate there like he does in Melbourne or Miami or indoors events.

His big problem at the US Open are the moments of rather constipated serving, especially when he needs some flow and pace to his service games. At the US Open more than anywhere else he gets in those serving ruts where he suddenly looks like a 55-year-old with a bad back and a shirt that doesn't fit.

If you compare Djokovic to the gnat at the US Open, the one big difference is that Nadal - despite having a clearly inferior overall game - is more comfortable with his game, and that is largely because he can count on his serve to deliver consistently for him as a strong first-serve placement shot. He doesn't have those flat, awful serving stretches like Djokovic does.

Miloš won the first 7:6.

miss thiem isn’t made for faster courts. One dimensional slow court player. Made a big mistake not to concentrate fully on Paris

just heard Nadal is practicing without exception on clay in his academy For weeks. Wise decision.
