I saw Kvitova match yesterday and was really surprised with the way Kvitova played. With exception of four games in the second set, when she lost concentration when leading 4-0, she played great tennis. Really strong and fast strokes, I was expecting she will be nervous and make a lot of mistakes, but this is absolutely different Petra. The one who won Wimbledon twice.

On Sunday she plays Kerber and Angelique look quite dominant too with 6-1 6-1 win over Bellis.

So Kvitova-Kerber on Sunday will be hopefully great great match

Petra looked good at the Olympics and I wondered if that form would crossover into the USO. She looked good at New Haven but then got trounced by Aga (Didn't see the match). It will be an interesting match... but I 'd probably lean toward Angie. Petra just goes walkabout too regularly.

Today is Carla Suarez Navarro's birthday. She's 28. (Apparently, it's Dominic Thiem's, too. He's 23.)

Caroline played a great match. I thought she was going to beat Madison. Madison is still in the process of learning how to use her tools.

I concur. A great match from Caroline. Keys is young and she will have plenty of opportunities in her future, but considering all the injury problems Caro's had, this must feel so great for her. And she has an excellent chance in the quarters too.

OK. Kerber and Kvitova.

If Kvitova is on I think she'll take Angie. I don't think Angie has been playing that well for the last couple of months. I thought in her last two matches she looked quite pedestrian. It seems like the pressure is getting to her and she's not going for her shots like she used to. I don't count that Cici Bellis match. Cici hasn't done anything in the game.

But, we know Kvitova too. She can really stink up the joint. So we'll see.

Keys has a great future, but she has to learn to construct points and not just batter the ball. Very happy for Woz, though. She needs to get back to the top. I hope she has a Major in her future.
