Looked like the cause was Monfils style of returning. Monfils was doing a Hingis but then on the return side of the net.

So Monfils is pretty much down two sets to love. Reminds me of the most ridiculous match I have ever seen of Monf: 2014 RG QF against Murray. Down two sets to love. Fights back to a fifth set. French crowd goes wild. Le Monf loses the last set 6-0.

Immediately I wrote that he seemed to perk up a bit and broke Novak. But I think it's a mental fatigue he gets. His play is very patchy today, loads of errors but also some great stuff. Novak doezsnot like this umpire -still irritated!
