Agreed, Novak deserves to win this USO, he has had very tough opponents and playing long matches, he probably has to be very tired but it doesn't matter, today he has a easy win, his opponent is playing pretty bad........

he's been rewarded at this USO with 4 hours and 9 sets enroute to the semi, which is the easiest path ever. But the humidity was tricky, glad he toughed it out. Now it's interesting to see if Kei and Stan can handle the condition today physically.

Is that the sort of thing he could shake off in time for the final?
Possibly. With wear and tear the tendon starts to catch on the shoulder bones. Sometimes it tears, mine tore away from the bone and needed surgery. If its just catching and irritated he could get away with it. Encouraged that after the match he was raising his arm OK but those last serves were frightening. But he has the best physios and strong muscles, he'll find a way to make a match of it if anyone can. I think he's lived with this for ages, I noticed it at Indian Wells. He would choose to avoid surgery at this stage of his career, it's a long recovery process, for normal people it's a year to get full use of the arm again. But of course it could be something else altogether. Let's hope just sore stiff muscles.

Hope this semi lights things up a little... Who are you picking and/or rooting for?

I'm hoping for a Stan win on both counts... largely because I think it makes the final more intriguing.

Im rooting for Kei. Looking good so far.

Hi Denis, nice to see you!!!

I watched only last 2 sets of the first semi and I could have done without it too. It was really tough to watch both of them. Hopefully the second semi will be played in much pleasant conditions.

He's looked good man, all tournament. I thought he'd bottle it against Murray in the fifth... yet he came good. Maybe, it will be a turning point that propels him into the top tier.
I haven't seen much tennis tbh. But the bronze medal made me hopeful he was in good shape.

Since Kei trains in Miami he is more likely to handle the humidity better. I still remember his beatdown of Nole in New York in 2014, in the similar conditions.

Good to see you too Billie :) Another final for Nole. No 21. Hope the shoulder will be okay.

Yeah, at this point all we can do is hope. He'll need a bit more favorable weather conditions though. Not playing a lot of tennis helped his wrist, but then lack of tough competition could hurt him with his stamina and mental toughness. We'll see I guess. He's lucky to get to the final this year.

Kei really looks good so far.

Credit to whom credit is due: Kei is playing brilliantly. I love his game.
