That's so true about Stan; how he tries his hardest to beat those who can beat Roger. He's always been that way. I can't stand him. At all. Instead of focusing on his own career all of these years he's put all of his energy into defending Roger while he had nothing. You can't get more weak-minded than that, IMO.

I don't think that's strictly true, the media seem unable to let Stan receive his kudos even when he's winning big matches... inevitably, he gets asked tons of questions about Federer.

DELPO for me too.

i CAN/T root for stan at all - i just dont/ like him. sorry. but one thing i really hated about HIM

is those years - he beat rafa one time - some davis cup maybe or something ...

and his main remark was "roger will be very happy " because rafa just beat roger -- again -- in some other tournament..making some reference to RAFA' S dominance over roger..i mean -- really?

FLOOR MAT AND ''defender of roger against others" is waht STAN was most of his career....like a GUARDIAN to keep away nole or andy or rafa - and then when facing roger

CONVENIENTLY imploding - and starts to win against roger ONLY when roger was becoming more vulnerable himself to stan.

he's one of those that spent almost his entire career

described by the NBA STAR CHARLES BARKLEY -- "these players around roger federer - that swiss guy -- teh WAY THEY ACT AND PLAY around him - you'd think they all wanna BED HIM -- don't they understand that HE'S taking food off of THEIR PLATES? "

ewe.......so distasteful to me.

Please post a link to Stan ever saying anything like that. I highly doubt he ever did. Stan has an atrocious H2H against all of the top guys except Murray. It just so happens he has beaten Roger and Rafa once at slams and beat Nole twice. Aside from that his record against those guys has been terrible. He simply raises his game on the big stage and has for many years now. And LMAO at Roger needing to be defended by Stan when it comes to facing Murray. Even the badly washed up Federer of the past 5 years still beats Andy when it counts. Back when Stan was losing all the time to Roger the latter didn't even need to fear Nole that much either. Where do you come up with this?

And the inferior Stan only started to beat Fed when Roger became more vulnerable to Stan? You mean when he became more vulnerable to everyone which is code for saying that when Roger was past his prime he became more vulnerable to Stan. Well...isn't that the way it's supposed to be?

I said that Stan tries his hardest to beat those that beat Roger and that is very true, which is why he plays his very best matches against Nadal Novak. Throughout his career his career he's done this and maybe it's been Freudian slips, but on occasions he's openly admitted that he won the match "for Roger," just as teddy said, in his post press interview he said, "Roger will be happy." I knew it was true because I've read similar comments from Stan over the years.

^ show us a link where he said that he beat Nadal or Novak for Roger? His first ever win vs Rafa was in 2014 at the AO when Rafa was already past his best. So that bit about him trying harder vs Rafa throughout his entire career is just garbage. And his record vs Nole is abysmal, he's just happened to beat him a couple times in big matches. He also destroyed Roger at one of the tournaments (2015 RG) that he beat Nole in. His record vs Nole, Rafa and Roger are actually very similar which suggests this theory of yours has no merit.

Why would anyone make that up?

pouille was wasted..i thought rafa win was 2nd 5 setter in a row but it was his third 5 setter in a row.

no wonder he was gone..gave McEnroe a chance to squeeze himself into the convo by talking about 1985 usopen final. lol.

gurufils is goating his way through the draw..he new dedication/coach since end 2015 is paying off..although if nadal had sneaked through this qf on reflection would've bbeen closer.

imagine if gurufils won the title. sounds more unlikely than bagpuss flying to mars via the power of bum gas.

Impressive stuff from Monfils, very solid and focused effort. Pouille's legs were shot but the old Monfils may have made much harder work of it. Hopefully he shows up to the semi and at least makes it a tough match for Djoker.

Pouille played 3 5 setters already, I don't think anybody expected him to beat Gael, who is playing some of his best tennis maybe in his whole tennis career. It's Gael's first major semi final since 2008 RG!!:cheerleader:

I wouldn't have minded if he'd have run out of gas two days ago. :p :lulz2:

As to Stan's comments, I remember he did say something (can't remember exactly what) but I am 100% sure it was just a joke. People sometimes tend to take everything players say so seriously. Stan gave Nole a keychain with his 2015 RG shorts as a memory, later that summer.:lol3:

This is their profession, their livelihood, they all want to win and beat other players for their own good, no matter how friendly or unfriendly they are amongst themselves.
