I think it comes down to the return if they meet. Roger has not been aggressive off the return here or in Montreal. That's the only thing wrong with the last two matches. He served pretty well, was hitting great and moving fairly well. If he does that and doesn't return well he is in trouble. If he returns like he did earlier this year he'd be the clear favorite.
Do not overlook consistency though...I may be remembering wrong but in the AO final, I think Roger won more of the longer rallies. I just do not see that happening here...YET. He still has a lot of room to improve but so does Rafa. Like you said, return is key but only one of the keys. He has to withstand the barrage of moonballs with heavy topspin on them. JMDP match will tell a lot.

He did well in the long rallies at AO but if he returns aggressively he can avoid getting into long rallies altogether. He returned well at AO but I think we saw him be even more aggressive the last two matches they played. There were few long rallies even though IW and Miami play pretty slow.

So far, Querrey can't serve and the only thing Anderson CAN do is serve.

Looks like it's choke time.
Big time choking by Sam, he failed on 5 set oints, three on his serve. He still won the set in the end, but I am sure his fans wetted their pants. Diaper change time

Sam tried to give it to him, but as usual, most of today's players truly stink at net! Anderson should have completed that comeback and demoralized Querrey, now he's likely to have blown it! The crowd will be behind their boy and they could have been silenced if closing out that set to take Q's heart! I've seen people blow leads like that before in TB and in games; even Federer's blown it!
