Makarova moves into the last 8, way beyond her ranking.

Still playing doubles too, she is just remarkable.

Some match stats:
Maka: 25 winners --27 UE --3/5 breaks --83 points
Genie: 21 winners --31 UE --2/10 breaks --69 points

Let me know when a WTA match has positive differential for both players and I will
cut my head off on that day.

The top 8 seeds are supposed to make the QF.

But, only one of them made it there.

Can we stop the tourney right now and give the trophy to her.

I think Maka looks like Graf. I am impressed with her game.

Woz or Bouchard can be ranked 7, depending on how Woz does. The top 6 are set. Serena, Halep, Petra, Pova, Aga, Li.

Congrats to Makarova for a splendid match, well deserved win. Indeed, also playing doubles with Elena. I thought that might take some sting out of her match today, after a tough doubles match yesterday.

Apparently Peng wants to focus on her singles games and that is a reason that she is splitting from Hsieh in their doubles partnership.

Azarenka with the early expected break on a nervous, new to the limelight, Krunic. Let's see whether she calms down

She doubles it up, now up 3-0

^ I'm sure Vika isn't sleeping on the fact that this is also a great opportunity for her. She's not seeing Kvitova here. Nor does she have to see Maria or Ana. Unlike the men's side where everyone and his brother is still in it.

Krunic really needs to quit it with the drop shots. When there's no strategy behind them especially early in a match it just looks lazy.
