A good result for Taylor Townsend/Donald Young they have made the s/finals of the mixed doubles.

I have a story to tell about Donald and Taylor...
For now I am going to tease you all with other scores.

The #2 Doubles team falls behind in the first set. Score 2-5 they serve to stay in the set. Peng is #2 in doubles you know.
Kimiko/Barbie are giving them a run for the money.

I have heard rumours that the no 2 doubles team will be splitting up after the USO?
Have you heard these rumours at all?

No, I have not.

Su and Shaui dig deep, they get the equalizer to tie it 5-5
Kimiko serves and holds easily at love for a 6-5 lead.

It would be great if they were to win this event. It could do wonders for their motivation and confidence in their singles games.

Agree, the mixed doubles event is where we see some unexpected winner's at times.
I think all players benefit playing doubles if helps them with their singles game.

How do you know though when you might be a better doubles vs. singles player. Jack Sock has won two Slams in doubles and hasn't done much in singles. Makes you wonder:huh:

^ Well I also think in doubles it also depends on your partner as well, having a good combination.I still think Jack Sock needs improvement in his singles game, whether he will make a good singles player is still up in the air for me.

Sure, that's a possibility. I carefully phrased it "could do wonders" not "would do wonders" for just the reason you outlined.

Actually, after Wimbledon Sock has had good results and it's just that he tends to meet top ten players early due to ranking, but, he has had some inspiring play.

Genie still hasn't found her game. Seems a bit tentative, while Maka is taking it to her. Maka to serve for the opener 5-4

But Maka is just too tough for Genie today. She takes the opening TB 7-2

The #2 doubles team lost in straights, with both top seeds ousted, the doubles draw is wide open, Martina/Flavia and Williams sisters are still there.

^ I also heard that Hsieh has been having shoulder problems in this tournament.
With the no 1 and no 2 seeds out,it now makes the doubles tournament interesting.

On serve in the second set, score at 3-2 with Genie serving next.
Medical Time-out!

I don't know if Genie can survive this one.

She won't survive this one. :nono Tossip was right. She'll be gone before SF and it's looking more like gone before QF.

^ Anything to slow down that Maka locomotive.

I had Makarova winning this match, regardless of Genie struggling in the heat.
