Just saw Andy. He needs to get mentally prepared for the fact that he might have to start his match at 9pm. I have a long day tomorrow at work so it's really tough. I won't be able to leave his match not knowing; on the other hand, I must go to bed by 10pm.

USO schedules are always notorious. It's nothing new. It used to be my 2nd favourite Major but no more.

The new order:

Wimbledon
AO
RG

USO

It's no longer my 2nd favourite either. I think we all appreciate the fact that they can't do anything about the weather but for the life of me I can't understand some of the scheduling decisions they've made over the past few years.

Fingers crossed we see Andy at some point tonight. I'm going to fly to New York and kick Del Potro's backside if he doesn't get this done in 4.

This feels heavily biased especially when you know all the top players (Federer, Nadal and Nole) are all done with their matches a day before. Because Andy is one of the main contenders to win this title and the defending champion no less, it matters how his schedules are panned out. It matters who remains fresher. It's no rocket science. I sincerely hope there's some sort of justice to this in the end.

I'm liking the above from you, Iona, for so many reasons. DO come to NY! What a wash-out of a day for the fans. I saw exactly 3 games of one match (DelPotro v. GG Lopez) before we finally gave up. I've never before seen a drop of rain in all my years of going to the Open, so clearly I've been lucky up until today. I cannot figure out how the USTA (?) decides about scheduling this event, year after year, when it so clearly doesn't work out for them.

Do you get refund/ticket for next day or something like that?

I just read this on twitter - not sure if it's accurate and I'm too tired to check but if it is then I'm ever more miffed about the schedule for Andy.

From 2007 onwards Federer has never played on day 3. Novak did in 2008 (day session). Rafa did in 2007 and 2009 (day session). Del Potro 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 - all day session. Andy in 2010 and 2011 (day session) Andy is the 1st top player since at least 2007 to play a night session on day 3.

Still no Del Potro on TV. Still all Venus.

No Hewitt or Wawrinka either. Thank you US Open.

So clearly Federer comes first to them followed by Nadal, Nole, Murray, Del Potro in that order. All they care about is the rating so whoever draws the most crowd, that's their rating even if that player is now ranked 7 and so on.

No. I could have gone earlier, and I could still be there watching the matches that are on now. It wasn't a complete wash-out, and I'm not sure what happens, in that case.

I'll say this about the scheduling: HOW can there be women through to the 3rd round when no men are, and some men still have to get to the second? They could front-load the first two days with men's matches, at least to get them through. The men really deserve the two-day rest, whereas the women are playing the same format they play in one-week events. Dumb, dumb, dumb!!

Emma .. go ESPN3

I am in Canada so I don't get ESPN3. I get TSN1 and TSN2. TSN1 is showing Venus and TSN2 is showing some horse stuff.

I am on livestream and watching Del Potro's match there.

I hoping to come next year - fingers crossed. I'm sorry for all the fans, especially you Moxie. I've had a few rain disasters at the French Open. I remember one day we were lucky if we seen 2 hours of tennis on Chatrier. We eventually decided to call it quits for the day but when we were leaving we realised that Andy was playing on court 1. We tried to get in but they wouldn't let us. I phoned my brother in Scotland and he said he was watching the match on eurosport and the stadium was less than 1/4 full. There were quite a few fans trying to get in but the staff point blank refused to let us in. No slam is perfect I guess.
