Just finished watching both women's matches,

Happy to be wrong on both occasions:)

Having watched the women's game for over 40 years, today I feel it is 80% mental, this youngster Coco has it in 'buckets' I am happy to say, which bodes well for her future, what a match! congrats Coco and I cannot wait to see your match against Osaka.

Hangs head I have to say in Caroline's match, this has not been a great year for results, still when the going gets tough she came out on top in the critical times in this tough encounter.

Okay I received some disturbing news, from one of my good friends from Tennis Panaroma,Karen who runs the website, via AP News,

Carla Suarez Navarro from Spain was fined $40,000 two days after retiring from her first round match with a lower back injury????

Official says she 'did not perform to the required professional standard' are you kidding me? if anyone happened to see this match please inform me ASAP,,I hope she challenges this fine, unbelievable.

I need to get some beauty sleep, after working....later everyone!

This is part of that rule where if you're injured before the tournament starts, you can withdraw beforehand and still receive half of your prize $ and a quali will take your place. Unless you injure yourself on court during the match, you will be hard pressed not getting docked for retiring in R1.

Thanks for the clarification,I did not see the match,so I am unsure if Carla did injure herself or if she was carrying that injury into the match and by playing made it worse.

Ash Barty to me is still not playing well.I feel her match later against Sakkari could be tricky.

Also Kenin v Keys will also be a interesting match up.

Pliskova and her racket say 'bye bye' to one another.....one of the best racket smashes I have seen for sometime:) lol! Jabeur leads 5-2 2nd set,Pliskova won the 1st set with ease 6-1

Jabeur 5-2 with 2SP.Pliskova fights back 5-4 2nd set

Pliskova gets broken again,Jabeur 2nd set 64 we are going to a decider.

Pliskova back in control and her racket:) in 3rd set leads 4-1

Costly UFE crept back into Pliskova's game,Jabeur had BP to get back on serve,Pliskova survived and will serve for the match 5-4

Pliskova d Jabeur 61 46 64

On Armstrong in a scrappy first set between Barty v Sakkari....Ash 1st set 75

Also the shadows on Armstrong make it quite difficult to play

BP Serena ,she converts and leads 4-3 1st set...Serena not really into her rhythm in the match,1st serve not really clicking, again shadows on Ashe makes it difficult for players and even me to see the ball at times.
