Today, we had ONLY two upsets.

1. #2 seed and defending Champion Garbage taken out by Van Uytvanck.
2. #22 and the last British girl ousted by Pocket Rocket in straight sets.

After four full days of play and the completion of two rounds, the total number of seeds who exited is 14. WTA can be proud in that this is two less than the number of seeds who exited in ATP at a similar stage. This is actually unusual. :nono:

However, there are only 2 of top 8 remaining in WTA, whereas 5 of top 8 are still alive in ATP. In that sense WTA has a lot to be ashamed.

Keys down a break in the decider 4-3. She's been pretty much outplayed all day with her offering of a gazillion silly errors.

Keys sent packing by a qualifier who doesn't hit half as hard as her. She admitted in her presser it was the pressure of looking ahead to the R16. What? Can you win this one first and then become a bundle of nerves on Monday?

They always say the greats just look at who is in front of them RIGHT NOW.
Hopefully she'll learn as she gets older.
Was she the last American standing besides the Williams'??

She was living on edge from day 1.

That leaves only two of top 10 viz., Halep and Pliskobot. Halep is not going to win Wimby with her defensive game and especially not right after winning her first GS. Pliskobot does not have movement and she is not going to win either.

Pliskova is in big trouble. Lost first set reelatively easy
Karolina Pliskova - Mihaela Buzarnescu 36 and is behind 14 in second set. Now on level 44. And it continues 56 - and now 1 set all. Maybe Pliskova survives anyway - we'll see. Pliskova survived but it was pretty close in the second set. Sorry.

So, we had three upsets today, including a non-seed upset.

1. Seed #9 Venus ousted by Kiki Bertens
2. Seed #10 Madison Keys taken out by Mom Rodina
3. Siniakova sent home by Camila (only ten spots ranking difference).

Total # of seeds sent home so far is 18.

Only two left from top 10, of which Pliskobot narrowly escaped an upset today.

Just like Mugu, Konta2 had no answers for VanU
So who is this VanU, and is it that her game is just especially suited to grass? I couldn't watch either of those matches.

Her name is Van Uytvanck and she says the grass is her fave surface. Has a nice all-around game

The 15th seed Mertens in all kinds of trouble. Cibby is firing from all cylinders 6-2
