He has a great game. Nice to see him fit without hampered movement. Would love to have been able to see it.

It's over. I'm sure you'll be able to catch a replay of it on youtube

This is Novak's first loss in a GS to someone outside 100 (or something like that :) ).

Istomin had only one top 10 win since 2012, a win against Ferrer.

Huge loss. This really changes the picture going forward in the rankings. Novak will have a hard time getting #1 back for months.

Yep, I was just researching that the other day and posted in the daily thread. Really shocking but I think it tells us that the Novak of 2015 is truly gone, and we may not even see the return of the 2012-14 Novak.

He's had bad knees for years. Great to see him fit and able to show the tennis world what he can do.

Almost 5 hours. What will Denis have left for the next round?

Other than Murray of course, the biggest winners of Djokovic losing are Raonic and Nadal. Dimitrov can also reach the semifinals now if he continues to play his high level.

Istomin after the match: "Thanks Mom" we did it.

Istomin is probably the only ATP player who still has his Mom as his coach.

Dimitrov vs. Gasquet should be epic - what a match made in heaven.

This is like getting a 2nd date with the prettiest girl in high school afterwards a bad first date, everyone got to feel it's theirs too loose.

After the first 1.5 sets off the match, I felt asleep unknowingly on the couch instead of formally retiring in the bed. As a result, I woke up in the middle of the 4th set and from that point saw the action live. I got lucky accidentally and watched the epic loss live.

It didn't look to me that Novak played bad. Novak really tried all he could and played quite well. It is just that Istomin came to play and won't fold no matter what happens. Istomin serve was great, forehand down the line was great and above all attitude was great.

Like you I had fallen asleep, but woke up in the 3rd set and was about to lay back down assuming the match was over, but it got interesting in the 4th and so I stayed put.

Novak did not played bad and Istomin played really well. But at the same time, Novak seemed "bored" or lethargic. It's like when he won the 3rd set, he decided not to play with a passion or fire during the rest of the match.

Did not expect this after seeing him win at doha. 2nd round at a grand slam is really poor. What this means is, unless fed plays a great match himself against Murray or whoever plays Murray plays a great match to knock him out too, Murray is going to be far ahead of Djokovic in ranking points now. More importantly, the bottom half of draw is now open. Nadal can as well reach the finals now, he is crushing Baghdatis as I am typing this. So, it can very well be Murray vs Nadal in the final. But I am hoping for Federer to reach there.

Too bad nobody in the world, let alone in this forum, kept saying that Djokovic would lose early... can you believe how much bragging this person would be doing right now? And can you imagine if this person would came up to be a Nadal fan?

congrats to Istomin, incredible result for him even if Nole helped him. don't know what happens to the great Serbinator but it's more and more worrying for him, he hasn't played well for ages and seems lost on court, he has to wake up

Actually Brother Kieran, an ardent Nadalite, predicted in this forum that Novak would lose early at this AO.

Was it Kieran? I thought that someone prophesized the early exit - I believe straight after Doha as well where he looked exemplary in the final as well. It would seem that he is definitely more susceptible to these early upsets
