In fairness to Le Monf, what score should we expect? I didn't see it but I wouldn't expect him to have anything in his arsenal to nudge novak out of his comfort zone...

Actually, Monfils was the favorite going into that match, several of the commentator or tv analyst not that they really know anything more than the very brilliant posters on this board predicted a win by Gael:nono. Too bad because I think the fans got cheated from seeing a potential great match.

I haven't watched any tennis this week - there's no stars playing :snicker - but I'd be curious under what conditions they could be playing, that Monfils is favourite to beat Djokovic... :laydownlaughing

It was based on monfils level of playing the past two weeks and Novak recent subpar playing..

Today's final is gonna be a battle of the two best two handed backhand in the world. I guess it will be a question of which Japanese Samurai, a healthy warrior or an injured player who will be happy with 2nd place.

As if any of that matters. I think you're right, bro, some of these commentators are very dimly lit... :nono

I actually think Murray, Gulbis and Fognini have just as good 2 handed backhands. And given how inconsistent Gulbis, Nishikori and Fognini are I'd say the two best on tour are Djokovic and Murray personally. And I say this as a complete non fan of Murray but his backhand is excellent.

Nah, Murray's backhand is mainly used as a counter punching whereas Nishikori's bh is a very dangerous weapon that he uses very effectively

Yeah, it can be great when he's playing well but more often than not he hits it into the net or miles long so in terms of consistency Murray wins hands down imo. I mean Wawrinka has a class backhand when he's playing well but how rare an occasion is that? So in that respect many are considered better than him when it comes to backhand seeing as theirs at least go over the net :p It's more about consistency than the few times they hit it aggressively and hard when it doesn't go miles wide or into the net.

Remember the operative term of my discussion is the best two handed backhand

Best when it's working well though = how many matches per year compared to Murray who is ten times more consistent?

Another milestone; happens each time Nole takes the court! This is his 30th Masters (his 4th with 3 to go), his 4th Canadian title, and is on course to set records we thought Roger would hold alone for decades! Djokovic is 18-1 vs other top 10 players! :nono   :dodgy: :cover

Don't get carried away please :p Roger was never gonna be ahead in masters given he played Nadal in so many on clay but he's well ahead in most of the biggest records. Both Roger and Rafa also won a lot of masters back when they were much harder to win as best of 5 compared to the best of 3 these days.
