^ I haven't seen any of the shows you mentioned but I'm always up for more options. I do want to check out the British House of Cards at some point. I hear it is similarly excellent.

Banshee is like a modern day Marco Polo on drugs in the areas you're thinking.

I heard good things about Banshee, but I know what you mean about it being "a man's show". ;) But it's also great quality, apparently. I think of Marco Polo as being "a man's show" too, for maybe similar reasons.

You ever watch any of the foreign shows, like The Bridge, Spiral, Borgen (Danish)? They're very high quality, and Scandinavia seems to be on a roll, what with Scandi-noir books being so popular. America has remade The Killing, and though I watched a couple of episodes, I much prefer the original. The Bridge has also been remade, by the US, and as The Tunnel, a French/British remake...

I tried to watch the Banshee about 3 to 4 years ago.. I couldn't really feel any concern about the characters.

Ray Donovan is very good but it does have its moments of extreme violence just to warn you in order to prepare the missus! And I'd say Banshee is probably not a show for her to watch, that's kind of a man's show anyways.

Question, do you guys think that the ladies Ray Donavan's wife and daughter are miscast. I don't think that either lady is remotely close to being attractive. I find myself rooting Ray to have a guest actress so he can a least have a decent love interest. Maybe it just me

I wouldn't say they are hot by any means but they aren't terrible to look at either. Ray gets plenty of ass though, he does alright for himself :)

Extremely dark show but wildly entertaining. There are maybe only a couple decent human beings portrayed on that show but I still think it's fairly easy to root for the main character and his band of thieves/vigilantes.

I'm only about 8 episodes in so I can't tell too much, I think the daughter has quite a heavy storyline, but she's excellent. Ray's wife is an idiot, letting Mickey back in. She's a good actress but she's a lousy wife.. :devil

I also just started Mr. Robot this past week. I haven't really gotten into it yet as it's fairly difficult to follow and kind of depressing.

I agree. They both add quite a bit to the show. Ray's son is...just kind of there, they haven't really done much with him.

Just finished the first season. Some excellent episodes there, and a great ending. Very intense stuff, and I hope it keeps this level up through the next seasons!

I'd say it does. Certainly season 3 was really crazy intense.

Haha, yeah! So far it's just Ashley but that's not bad! I'm started season two now. I love how the first episode ended, when Ray was bringing Mickey back to LA. Left the bar, went to his car and stripped to the waist, pulled a baseball bat out of the trunk, and went steadily back inside the bar. The music inside stops and you hear the screams :laydownlaughing

Also if you guys haven't seen the TV show Fargo you should make that the next thing you watch. That's definitely well above "David Ferrer" level of TV shows, much closer to Fed, Rafa, and Djoker TV :) 9.0 on IMDB and I think that's underrated.

I will give Fargo a try eventually. I tried to watch Mr Robot. It's amazing acting , still hard to follow and at times disturbing. I guess I am biased because I am really prefer GOT but I NEVER complained about that show being disturbing..:laydownlaughing

Okay lads, I watched season 1 of Game of Thrones last week. I had the boxset for years but didn't get around to it, then the wifi was acting up last week so i had nothing else to watch.

I enjoyed it, but I didn't get hooked. Maybe there's too much hype around it, and so my resistence was up. I have wifi back, so I'm back with Ray Donovan, and I'm going to watch more Walking Dead before the Big Reveal in that show when it comes back in October, but I'll bet back to GoT in winter.

After all, Winter is Coming! ;)

^ Well I did think season 1 was amazing and it had me hooked pretty early. But it still gets better but not in season 2 IMO.

Ray Donovan is about halfway through season 4. I think the 3rd season was the best so far and this one is well on its way to eclipse it. It's been terrific.

^ When you think it's "just television", season 1 was exceptional. Of course, nowadays television is as good as films, and often so much better, for various reasons. Television has strengths cinema can't match. But the type of show GoT is plays to cinema's strengths, and I think it matches cinema easily. But a few times I was bored. And it was slightly different to what I was expecting. There was less action than I expected, for example. But the real difficulty might have been that my expectations were too great, and that affected it.

Halfway through season 2 of Ray Donovan, and I love it!
