I thought it was pretty good. It actually got a little difficult to follow everything but ended on a pretty decent note. I assume there will be more seasons?

From what I've heard, yeah, this is only beginning. There's a lot of mystery to be solved, isn't there? It was filmed darkly, wasn't it? I think a bloke who was involved in making X-Files made it. Plus, isn't your woman a cutie? Haven't seen an actress look so stunning since Mrs Brody...

My woman? :) I assume you mean Alexa Davalos. Does sound Greek. She is definitely a babe!

I finished watching it last night.

SPOILERS!

What do you think the alternate-history newsreels mean? My guess is the writers are hinting at some form of multiverse as a result of the atom bombs. As I see it, they've implied at least three different/parallel universes: one in which the Nazis and Japan won WWII, one in which they lost (as shown in certain newsreels), and one in which a war happens again (as shown in the last two episodes in which the main characters are portrayed in that execution newsreel scene).

And does the Japanese Trade Minister have some kind of ability to move from one universe to another, as shown at the very end of Episode 10?

They have a lot of explaining to do, to say the least.

Also, ultimately what was the point of showing the Japanese couple who were suckered into buying fake antiques? In the end, that storyline didn't really go anywhere.

I'm curious what the writers will do next year. Hopefully it will involve additional characters traveling between alternate realities, messing things up, having to put more right, etc. As Kieran mentioned, the guy who created the series was one of the producers of the X-Files, so this could go anywhere.

Yeah, it's kinda opened up for the next season. Or was that a break in season 1? These films are the big mystery. It's made so well that we don't watch it and think, meh! At least, I didn't anyway. I like the visual look of it too. And yeah, it's a nasty nightmare alternative world. Set funny enough around the same time as Robert Harris novel, Fatherland, which also imagined what it would be like if Hitler won the war. That's a very good book.

I don't know what the newsreels mean, but since it's based on a novel, I expect they should have some meaning, as opposed to what sometimes happens on TV, that the writers begin with a mystery that even they don't know the answer to, so then they start to make up silly stuff as they go along... :cover

Speaking of X Files, the new series is starting soon.

Been meaning to start watching Da Vinci's Demons here. Meant to be pretty good.

Yeah, I saw that. I think I watched all the X-Files up to when Mulder left, and I enjoyed it, even when it was weird or ridiculous. I've never seen Da Vinci's Demons...

I watched most of the first season of Da Vinci's Demons and couldn't get into it.

Anyone else check out Making a Murderer? Incredible documentary, and all that crap took place about 90 miles north of where I live. Don't let that make you think I'm an inbred redneck though :)

Anybody watch the new X-Files? Just watched the first episode. I enjoyed it! Kinda still the same shaped show, eerie music, whispering husky voices, flashlights in the dark. Good to see them back...

You bet! I watched the first two, and enjoyed both. Without going into spoilers, the first one was particularly satisfying as an X-Files fan -- the show you kept waiting for them to make.

Looks like there are just a couple threads here regarding individual TV shows like Game of Thrones and Narcos.

We can use this thread for a longer list of shows that people are interested in.

I got done with Fargo season 2 last week. It was very good but not quite up to season 1 which I thought was phenomenal.

A bunch of the shows I like are coming back soon:
1. GOT - Game of Thrones season 6 on 4/24/16. This will be especially intriguing given the cliffhangers at the end of season 5 and the fact that they are going to be ahead of the books
2. House of Cards - 4th season released on 3/4/16. The first 2 I absolutely loved. The 3rd season was still good and left with a nice cliffhanger as well.
3. Marco Polo - 2nd season which premiers sometime in June. The first one was very good, entertaining more than anything and I don't know that much about the history which makes it more fun to watch as well.
4. Daredevil - 2nd season comes out on 3/18/16. I'm not a huge Marvel nut by any means but the 1st season was excellent.
5. Banshee - the ultimate man's show. A Cinemax flick that will be having it's 4th and final season coming out on 4/1/16. That one is pure entertainment but has at least some semblance of substance which makes it a good one to watch.

The season premier of Better Call Saul just came out this past Monday. I still found the first season to be very underwhelming. I'd expect it to pick up soon but I'm not going out of my way to watch it right now.

Also forgot to mention a couple others I'm currently watching.

1. Shameless - A very good comedy/drama that's in its 6th season. It's definitely lost a little steam from its first few seasons but most of the recent comedies are garbage by the 5th or 6th season. I'd say it's still good.

2. Billions - A new show that's through about 5 episodes. It is awesome so far.

Good picks @Twisted!

Game of Thrones is probably my favourite ever. I've also got into Vikings recently.

I watched the UK version of Shameless, thought it was OK (my wife was a massive fan).

Heard lots of good reports about the other shows you mentioned, I've been meaning to watch Better call Saul for ages and Billions also sounds good.

Thank you @Twisted for the thread. You keep recommending good shows, I sometimes tend to just go to On Demand channel and watch all episodes one after the other (when I am off of work and dedicate myself to it).

I've been meaning to catch Vinyl, maybe Rock Icons as I love shows with/about music.

Anybody here watching The Night Manager? A co-BBC/AMC production, this one oozes class and danger every second of the way. Great cast: Tom Hiddlestone, Hugh Laurie, Tom Hollander. It's based on a John le Carre book, but I never read it. It's high-end spy stuff, well worth a gander...

It hasn't been broadcast in the US yet, but I'll definitely watch it. I can honestly say there's nothing like le Carre!

You'll enjoy it, brother. It has maybe the intricacies of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy but filmed with excitement and tension and clarity. And like I say, the cast is excellent. Already there's been a bit of clamour for Tom Hiddlestone to be the next Bond. My wife thinks so too, but that's only because he's bringing her out of the pining she went into for Don Draper when Mad Men ended... :snicker

Binge-watched House of Cards last week. I thought it started out excellent and then kind of was slow mid way through until the season finale. Overall it was very good, I'd rate it above season 3 and below the first 2. It is clear by the end of this season that they are geared up for at least a couple more seasons IMO.

I'm in the middle of it, brother, maybe seven episodes in. Enjoying it a lot more than the last season and wondering how it'll pan out. They have some solid new characters in this year, including Neve Campbell, who I haven't perved over in donks. :snicker
