Career high on Nov. 3:

5. Kei Nishikori 24y
37. Steve Johnson 24y
42. Jack Sock 22y
81. Sam Groth 27y
92. Borna Coric 17y

Kei came a long way. The question, obviously is, how much higher he will manage?
#4 is definitely within reaching distance, if he will be able to do that, he will surpass Tsongs and Berdych best rankings ever.

Kei has proven that he is able to beat both Novak, Roger and Rafa and pretty much everyone else. I think he can position himself in the top 4 next year. He will have to fend off Murray or Roger though in order to do that.

I just watched bits and pieces of Kei's match, but he shoots himself in the foot by playing like his coach; very defensively! I hate that he'll put this great serve in or hit a great shot putting his opponent on the run, then allow the guy to float something back and Kei waits for it to bounce deep! It's so insane to see again and again when he's halfway to the net already and could have closed the point out right then! All players are doing it, but you have some like Kei, Raonic, and Murray who get into these wars with nobodies when they should cut so many shots off and make them quick battles! Idiots! :dodgy: :nono :puzzled

I disagree. Nishikori takes the ball early and is quite a shotmaker.

I don't think his match against Novak in Paris is very representative tbh.

Nishikori does not play defensively. Just because he moves well and can counterpunch doesn't mean he plays defensively. He's kinda similar to Davydenko.

Counter-punching like Murray is a better word, but I just hate seeing players like Nadal floating some garbage shot back and his opponent allowing him to get away with it! Net play can be such a premium in today's game, so I just don't understand it!

You probably only ever watch him when he's playing Federer. I can understand why that upsets you... ;)

When was the last time they played? :laydownlaughing I'm over Federer; the GOAT for now, but I can't see him making a difference when it comes to competing against the best! He's having enough trouble with "also rans," nobodies, and never-weres; going 3 sets all the time! He's playing well, but it's still a battle to win the simplest of matches! He has got to attack the net more and stop thinking he can rally with the "big boys" for 20-30 strokes for any length of time! Roger's been fortunate that some players just "choked" away their match against him even though playing at a high level! He hasn't hit "Martina Navratilova's" end in '94 yet, losing in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of tournaments, but it's coming! His attempts at winning majors will only get harder! His last best chance was at Wimbledon this past July, but he blew it by allowing Nole back in! It was his for the taking! I appreciate it as much as Djokovic, but sometimes you just have to say "good-bye!" :nono :puzzled

New career high for the following players:

75. Sam Groth 27y
82. Peter Gojowczyk 25y
89. Borna Coric 17y

This is it as far as high Coric could go as a 17y player, he turns 18 this week.

Viktor Troiki is ranked 104. His ranking cannot go down and only go up for the next seven
months.

Incidentally, that 104 is the magical last number that lets you in Grand Slams as a direct entry.

Mission Accomplished. Good Job Viktor.:clap

Not exactly. The season is not over, many challengers (5) are still played this week and the majority of the players ranked in the vicinity of Viktor are still competing , including himself. The joggling for positioning is on.

My boys Filip and Viktor are 98 and 99, I really hope they stay in top 100 and don't have to qualify for AO 2015.
