A new young player, Moutet breaks into the top 100, on the back of a win on the Challenger tour.
He is barely 20, same age with De Minaur, Shapovalov and Kecmanovic.

It is a rare instance when 2 players get into the top 10 for the first time, as it was the case with Karen and Fabio this week.
The difference is one just turned 23 and the other 32.
Obviously, Karen has the chance to go a lot higher in the future, and will be a potential top 5 player by the time he peaks.
Fabio on another hand got here at an age which historically used to be the retirement age, but these days is just what we become to say a "late bloomer".
The "late bloomer" concept was supposed to be an exception, however in the last decade more and more players fit into this category.
Just to mention the very best, who got into the top 10:
Ferrer, Wawrinka, Isner, Anderson and now Fognini.
Every time I think of silent big K all I can imagine is the battles with Rafa.. although Rafa have the H2H lead , he is typically left pretty lifeless afterwards..he is the one player that consistently makes Rafa feel the PAIN instead of Vice versa

Last 2 matches were really close. Seems like Khachanov set his eyes on Rafa. Definitely a dangerous draw for the spaniard as the russian is getting closer to beat him.

Agreed..it's almost if he is playing a bigger version of himself..very similar to how Thiem plays Rafa, extremely physical

Matteo Berrettini breaks into the top 20, he got into the top 100 just at the beginning of last year, he is developing pretty fast.
Aussie teenager Popyrin breaks in the top 100, he basically is the same age as DeMinaur, both born in 1999.
Another first timer in the top 100, Italian Travglia.

Fritz is no longer on the fritz. He's really coming along nicely this year - not just his title, but general performance at big tournaments. He could finish in the top 20.

I think he's playing too much! It could be because he's on TV almost everyday; making semi-finals and all! Now on TCC playing Monfils "down under!" He and AAF seem to be coming up together with success, but I feel both will begin to break down! They have no weight on them and play a basic good game with no huge weapons! :yesyes:   :ptennis:

I think you are wrong. Fritz is not playing more than the average top 100 player on tour.

You’re right. He has played an average number of tournaments. (Most have played around 25-28; Fritz = 28) There are several who have played more.

It's not the number of tournaments, but with success making SF's and finals, you wind up playing more matches like the elites! They can handle it and not suffer as much outside of Nadal! The rest like Milos, Kei, and others can't stay on court more than a few weeks or couple months before going down again! What's Sascha's excuse going out again in the 1st Round of a major? :nono:  :ptennis:

.He played 34 matches in 6 months. That is again, not more than average. Do the math, is less than 6 matches per month. How much do you want him to play?

I personally couldn't care less! I see some players a lot more than others, then not surprised later when they pull up lame and have to WD!
