It just shows how weaker the younger generations is, doesn't it?

Heaven knows I've been saying it for years, but I think Zverev and Thiem might break through! Thiem's won at least 3 tourney's and Sasha was in the final against him last week! :dodgy: :clap

Cilic is ranked 10 if you have not noticed.

It will depend also on how his close competition will do, because the majority defend a lot more points than him.
Some changes will happen though, but too early to say.

He surprised me by reaching the USO SF again last year and defended his QF points at Wimbledon so that's probably the bulk of his points there but he's been poor enough at all the other non slam events. A lot of his points could be dropped in the next few months if he doesn't defend them.

I just took a quick peak; Gasquet and Goffin can slide past him if they win their next match alone! :clap

El Dude said:So here is an interesting development. If either Goffin or Thiem wins tomorrow in their R16 matches, they will surpass current #10 JW Tsonga in the live rankings. Meaning, there's a good chance that at the end of Roland Garros and when the rankings are updated next Monday, we'll have a new top 10 player.
It isn't guaranteed, because David Ferrer is also shooting for a top 10 spot and he's just 5 pts behind Thiem, but there's also a scenario where BOTH make the top 10: if they both win R16, at least one wins QF, and both Ferrer and Berdych lose tomorrow. Then Thiem and Goffin are guaranteed a spot in the top 10 (this assuming that Bautista Agut doesn't upset Novak and go on a run into the top 10).
The times they are a changin'...maybe/almost.
