Corny and funny songs and arrangements has always been among the favorites - from time to time -and let's have a throw back to the 60ties. Do you remember The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band:

THEY LEARNT A LOT from Spike Jones

And last but not least some of their 50years jubilee concert with some of their story - enjoy!

I've never heard of them. I'll have a listen & see what I think later.

Bonnie Tyler one of my favorites back then because of her special voice - I need a hero is a good one to rocking the dancefloor :) like this

or this - both women still performing today

And not to forgfet the rocker of them all - inspired by Susy Quatro and former lead guitarist in the first female rockband The Runaways

Don't know The Runaways - here they are with Joan Jett and Lita Ford in front

And last Sanne Salomonsen our Danish rock mama still rocking to day - here a tune proud Mary she sang to the crownprinces fiancee Mary Donaldson from Tasmania - 2004.

I think Bonnie Tyler has a brilliant voice too. Did you know that she's releasing a new album? It was on breakfast news this morning. I like total eclipse of the heart best. :0)

I like Kylie's old stuff. I should be so lucky was the 1st song I ever sung on stage. I sung Kylie Minogue songs in class in 1 of the last 2 years of High School 1 lesson just before Children in need day & raised £3. (It was in Youth Award Scheme which I had to do. It was a class where you could do anything from make cuppas, sing, act & knit to write film reviews & poems. I was only supposed to sing 1 song but they had me singing all lesson instead. We got a big book with challenges in & you worked on those challenges. I really enjoyed 1 of those challenges as we had to go to a historic town nearby & learn about the history of the town. I always found history fascinating & studied history properly so I had a field trip in my proper history class to a nearby town which was well known for being in the middle of the main route from Edinburgh to London during stage-coaching times so had lots of coaching inns which was more interesting for me because of all the talk of horses. The fact horses were mentioned so much in history was what got me into history to start with.) We got £1 a week at that time so that was good. The song & dance routine to Never too late was my party piece for many years.

Thank you very much. I'd only ever heard Tina Turner's version of Proud Mary. (I love Tina Turner but prefer "The best". I had to sing the best in High School.)

I can't talk about The best without sharing it.

Since you shared that version of Proud Mary & I shared the best it's only fair I share Tina Turner's version of it.

Yeah Tina Turner was good - has been singing a couple of times in Denmark. This time and perhaps next time I will present Little Mix to you all. The reason I like them is because they can sing AND harmonize. No lead singer. They lover their voices when one has a verse aso. First one up is a cover of Rhiannas Love on The Brain which they did while they were on the Ariana Grande tour in spring 2017

Black Magic their biggest hit from 2015 accoustic

Hair as performed on German WDR TV 2016

A Whitney Houston cover Dance with somebody performed in the BBC live Lounge 2015

A mashup of Holy Grail/Counting Stars/Smells Like Teen Spirit 2013

And last from nov.2018 an acapella version of The Cure from their fifth album LM5. Hope you like what you hear.

I love Tina Turner. I like some of Little Mixes songs.

I remember that Whitney Houston song so it's only fair I share.

I loved Whitney Houston. The following was my favourite song of hers though.

Happy St. George's Day!

https://youtu.be/u8MWb1FlODQ

A video about the meaning & history of the song so people who don't know broad Yorkshire can understand it & I don't have to explain anything because other than people who live or have lived in Yorkshire or people who've read books like Wuthering Heights or the Emmerdale Farm series of books don't really understand much of it. I hope they've managed to put out the fires that were on Ilkley.

Vera Lynn - she's good with many heartfelt songs and Whitney Houston with a voice of another world - and now to what I promised
Well - I said I wanted to show a little bit more about Little Mix - the famous girlgroup from England. How come a guy - almost 70 - like a girlgroup? I like what I see AND hear being in a choir back in the 80ties - I like harmonies.
I've been a teacher since 1976 and still teaching. Now on a private school in a class with 9 girls and 1 boy teaching history. I've always had a close eye to problems among the girls, because they are more severe than among the boys. I taught myself to read the signs when something is/was happening - now talking about 7th to 9th graders - and had a fairly good success TALKING to the girl, when there was a break, and I was place guard. Yes it'll be too long a story but I guess you know what girls can do to eachother.
Then watching X-Factor GB back in 2012 and saw who was winning in 2011 - a girl group who could sing - and I was lit. A group who started as individuals and in the end- before bootcamp - put together by Kelly Rowland and the other judges - ending up winning it and managed to make really good records together telling a lot of things to other girls. I'll put a string of 5 tunes together - lyric videos so you can see what they are singing about. I'll start with their second album SALUTE and the first real selfpenned (with a little help) song called Little Me where they come with an advice to their followers - MIXERS - what to do.

The importance of having friends for life - you can trust from their first album DNA

And again from SALUTE - Good enough

The last two songs are from their 3rd album GET WIERD where you hear their songs are beginning to show how to deal with problems in a grown up manner - they had all passed 22 of age. First one is a friendship song (they say themselves) about getting a guy out of their hair (big hit btw)

The last one this time is Secret Lovesong which has become a sort of anthem for the LGBT community which they demonstrated in a concert in Dubai in February ( I think) 2019 where thay had their banner on the back of the stage while they sang this.

Many other good songs on the albums - more next time

Out of Vera Lynn's songs I like "We'll meet again" best.

People may wonder how come a 37 year-old likes '40's-'70's songs as well as '80's & '90's songs & doesn't like much modern music. I was brought up in a family where '40'-'70's songs were played a lot & I was the main choir girl at 1st & Middle school so had to sing '40's-'70's songs. We had to sing '40's-'70's songs in High School music classes too so I got to like some of them. I've got lots of Scots/Irish ancestors & trad. Scots/Irish music was also played a lot at home & at family sing-alongs we used to have once a week.

That's nice. History was my 2nd favourite subject at school after French. French was my favourite subject because I never had to try & always got no more than 5 questions wrong in exams so no matter what I did in French class I could do no wrong. I completed my work in 5 minutes & she never had enough work for me to do so after I finished my work I could do anything I wanted as long as I helped her teach anyone who needed help. History was the most fascinating subject at school. I particularly enjoyed British soc. & economic history from 1700-1901, stage-coaching & the history of medicine. I know what girls of that age can be like. Hitting people who were elected lead-singer's & song-writer's in music class reggae band project at the back of the head with musical instruments because they're jealous that the lead-singer's song was chosen as the best song written to be sung, putting chewing-gum in people's hair so the English teacher had to cut it, lighting splints with Bunsen burners & trying to burn people, throwing lit crisp packets at people & putting dead rats in people's bags as well as the normal verbal, physical & mental forms of intimidation. The reason why I did the funny class I mentioned last time is because I didn't want to do double science which was the other choice because of the Bunsen burner incident. I ended up being sent to the special needs area at breaks & dinner-times to help special needs children with their reading for my own protection. I wanted to drop out but they wouldn't let me as they said I had too much to lose. I took my refuge in a book & carried on as normal as well as putting my all into my work. I'm very sorry for gushing. I was telling the truth to let you know I understand what girls are like. Anyway, that's over now. Things are much worse now as children have been known to take knives to school & stab people including a teacher a few years ago 1 bus-ride away from where I live. Time for positivity to be brought back so since I mentioned reggae I'll share some reggae.

I normally use the pen-paper method of solving problems. When you spoke of the song of getting men out of people's hair I thought of this song.

A new banger from the Danish superstar Aura Dione - who's finally back again

She was in love with the world right before she took a break of personal reason after a breakup from the Skype inventor - here is the tune:

Tke your time and watch the following video from a recent concert in Germany, where you also get an inspiring story of her life and career. As I've mentioned before she decide everything about her music: writing, design, editing of both music and fashion. Video starts ca. 2 min in and is worth a watch

She's very good. Thank you very much for sharing.

I'm very sorry for the delay. I only managed to listen to the longer video today.

Nice connection on the early RG thread, @Horsa, even if I am not a big Beatlles/Lennon fan -- or better, even If I am not a big fan of "this guy". Answered here so there is no need to worry about hijacking the thread with other topics.

It was - a nice catch is always relevant. But I was afraid my answer could start a long parallel conversation so I prefered to move it here as a precaution.

O.K. You know what I'm like for word-play, song-word games & having a laugh & joke as well as the fact I can be very verbose. You also know that some people on here like others to have a laugh & joke but when I join in they don't like it so decided to remove it here so the conversation on your thread can go back to its original topic without any animosity being caused. Thank you very much.
