Always nice with a good laugh. I've got a few songs which I think is funny and most of them are irish. Here is a song Tom Lehrer wrote back in the late forties: The Irish Ballad and it's my favorite because it's a gruelling story told in a funny way. Here in a modern version:

Something nice about irish humor - here is the sick note

Ireland is the only English speaking country I've been in - a language course back in 2005 -here is seven drunken nights

Let's end it with a hyggelig version of the Wild Rover

That's great. The only version of the Wild Rover I've heard is the Scottish version.

I had to control myself in Middle School choir a couple of times because they got us to sing "Does your chewing gum loose its flavour on the bedpost overnight?" & it was very hard for me to resist the urge to laugh.

I also found My old man by the same singer funny.

I'm back - been a bit off line the last week or more because of rebuilding activities in my home and a bit of work. Was thinking a bit back on my youth in late sixties and seventies and then I thought of all the sympathy today for the LGBT society, and then I remembered a - at that time - bit unususal melody called LOLA by The Kinks which I must say was a new start for The Kinks and also the way their more social minded tunes influented a lot on my way of thinking. Here is Lola - enjoy:

And thinking back you can't get passed DAYS which is about memories

There were a lot of disco freaks following the latest fashion - I's not among them but I liked the gentle song about them - 2007 version:

Back to the US to a banger from 1979 which still is a good rocker. The Knack with My Sharona where the singer and guitarist Feiger writes abut his teenage girlfriend Sharona. Written in 15 min he claims and was on top spot on Billboard for 6 weeks and fastest selling single since the Beatles I want to hold your hand. Was really fun to dance to:

I'm glad to see you back & hope that your house is back to normal soon so you can relax properly again. I hope you enjoyed your trip down memory lane. I heard Lola quite a lot. It mentions my favourite type of cola (unless I add Malibu, rum or Tia Maria to it of course). You talking about memories is reminding me of the songs "Memories like the corners of my mind. Those misty-coloured memories of the way we were" & "Memory, all alone in the moon-light." I like that song too. There were a lot of people following fashion in my younger days too. I just wear what I like & add new pieces to old pieces I've got which I love & I have my own style. I've been judged & picked on a lot in the past by people who think ladies my age should only think about clothes, make-up, jewellery, my hair, men & music. (I'm just not like that.) I find some songs express how I really feel & allow me to express how I really feel. That talk of disco reminds me of the film Saturday Night Fever.

I didn't mind women behave like you describe but I didn't mind they could think too. Back in those days women were on the way from wives cooking and nursing to working women. I was interviewed once to a Daily Mirror like newspaper - Ekstrabladet - when I worked on a big metal factory. They camuflaged their real purpose with a lot of questions about working as a student in a metal factory, and then they put in a couple of questions about women where I worked. I said that I couldn't see a problem in, that women could take a few stations in the factory along with the men. I got a lot of trouble with the union afterwards. Why I've said that without getting a permission. I said that I answered the questions and saw nothing wrong in that. Times has luckily changed since then. Maybe I've been picked on too because I was longhaired then, but the positives were more essential. Those were the days - nice thinking back - me thinks.
Did you see Little Mix at the Britt Awards - great performance

I don't mind women behaving like I mentioned but when they try to get all women behaving the same way I think that's different. I think women should have the choice. Some men like caring, cooking, cleaning & nursing now & I think that's good. I think it's dreadful you got into trouble for telling the truth. I think some men (like Meatloaf) look better with long hair & that they should have the option.

Talking about Meatloaf, here's 2 out of 3 ain't bad to bring the topic back on course.

4 songs that make me think.

I've looked at life from both sides now.

Blowing in the wind.

Imagine

Happy St. David's Day!

Since me & @britbox had a chat before Xmas when I shared Merry Xmas Everyone when he told me Shaky was Welsh I thought I'd share this as a relevant song for St. David's Day. Enjoy!

For a break from all the songs sung by Welsh singers, I've decided to share a nice song I had to sing in choir.

I just saw that one of my favorite female artists Avril Lavigne has returned from 5 years of lyme disease and is recording aganin. Good for music to see this multi talented 34 year old back. I first heard about her when Skaterboi was released but here is her first singl Complicated

She made a couple of good records in the 00s like

In 2010 Alice - film music to the new release of Alice in Wonderland

And after her down period Head above water

Next time I'll take a trip down my jazz side

I'm sorry to hear she was ill & glad she's better.

When I think of jazz I normally think of people like Acker Bilk whose music I love. I can't be bothered to search through all his tracks looking for 1 of his vocal tracks at the moment though.

Well my love for Jazz started way back in 1967 when I entered High School - boarding school. Then we went to beat and jazz arrangements. I specially got fond of New Orleans jazz - where we had a world wide known band at that time - Papa Bue's Viking Jazzband. Then after becoming a teacher it was a little forgotten but occasionally it surfaced. Last year was one of those times when I by accident stumbled over a New Orleans trad jazz group of YOUNG people TUBA SKINNY who I'll try to give a few examples from. They often play on the street in New Orleans. Started about 2009 - here is a couple of numbers from 2013 and a newer one last:

And another one from 2013 Egyptian Ella

From same date Jackson stomp

A little later that April I Get the Blues where their lead singer has a moment

Music that gets you in a positive mood and want to dance. Just look at the pair in the back ground on the next tune

No modern boring jazz to me. More jazz coming next time - where I'm going back to Fats Waller another of my jazz favorites.

You're a teacher. What do you teach? Anything nice?

Dad listened to Acker Bilk when I was very young & still does now sometimes.

When I hear music I like I just feel the need to sing or just sing as I'm no good at dancing. I only know how to twist & waltz though I had to attempt Highland dancing & line dancing at school once. I had to attempt the Highland dancing once in French in the last lesson before the end of term when my French teacher decided to do a quiz & talent contest instead of French class. I loved French & would have preferred to do a French lesson. We had to attempt the line dancing at the end of term when I should have been in Drama class but the headmaster decided that my year were having a Xmas dinner & dance. I'd have preferred to do Drama class although the dinner was lovely. I'm contemplating taking line dancing lessons at the moment.

I've heard of Fats Waller too.

To keep the music flowing & thank you for the music, here's a song thanking you for the music.
