I like the older country music so haven't heard them but I'll give them a listen & tell you what I think later. Thank you very much for sharing.

I'll listen to that later too but it's got a long way to go to live up to Dolly Parton's version. Out of Dolly Parton's songs I like 9 to 5 best & her duet with Kenny Rogers "Islands in the stream".

Well as I write "one of the best" - whatever has been -and yes I know Dollys version- I've left behind concentrating of NOW. I grew up with the Beatles, The Kinks and Rolling Stones and occasionally I listen to them- and I have most issued by them but I almost only listen to Little Mix because they can sing. I've been in a mixed choir for 12 years in the 80ties and know the feelin when harmonies mix - that's one of the greatest feelings. Then I was wondering one Februar night in 2013 having seen that season X-Factor on Danish TV thinking can it really be as bad in England. By accident i landed in te 2011 final and saw that a girl group called Little Mix had won the competition - curios I continued watching X-Factor 2011 in England from the start and used the whole night to watch all programs - and then I was hooked. Those exsamples I've chosen are artists that can sing also without autotune if they use it att all. So maybe when I am close to 80 I'll return to my youth. Her is an accustic version of another artists music:

I like the Beatles & the Kinks. I grew up with traditional Scots/Irish music which I love (bagpipes are my favourite musical instrument), the Carpenters, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Craig McLachlan, Cliff Richard, Meatloaf, Bryan Adams, Dina Carroll, Elton John, Take that, Boyzone, B*witched, the Corrs, Cher, Whitney Houston & Celine Dion. I've got a quite eclectic taste in music. Dad likes 60s music best. Mother likes Country music & Buddy Holly. My Sister likes Showaddywaddy & the Bay City Rollers best. I just picked up a bit of all these tastes as well as liking some of the songs we had to sing in Middle School choir which I always had to join. We sung songs like blowing in the wind & autumn leaves in choir. I used to follow the charts but since 2000 didn't think the music was up to much & listened more to old stuff except when I had to go on work nights out when they'd get me drunk & I ended up in a nightclub. I preferred Karaoke or Karaoke & quiz work nights out because I didn't have to get drunk & listen to new music. Sometimes I had problems getting off the stage though. Thank you very much for sharing the music. I'll have a listen later & see what I think & maybe rethink & give modern music more of a chance.

Well Horsa one of the songs from the sixties I return to when I've got a jubilee is Mary Hopkins - Those were the days - which is THE best song about nostalgia - here is the text and video follows - it can make an old man cry a tear or two

Those were the days - sung by Mary Hopkins - from an old Russian folk song

Once upon a time, there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours,
Think of all the great things we would do

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we'd choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way

Then, the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If, by chance, I'd see you in the tavern,
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

chorus

Just tonight, I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass, I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me?

chorus

Through the door, there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh, my friend, we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts, the dreams are still the same

chorus

And here a version by Leningrad Cowboys (Finnish band)

I love it. I've heard it many times. Thank you very much for sharing. I didn't know that it came from an old Russian folk song though. Thank you very much for the information.

I haven't really thought about what country songs are my favourites but I'll share some songs from my favourite singer altogether & 1 from my favourite group altogether.

I've got an idea that someone will be saying they prefer ABBA's version of "The way old friends do" though.

Hi Horsa you've chosen some nice songs from the Scotish area and if you listen to them when you watch the landscapes they are beautiful tunes.
Here a couple of other songs by Myley Cyrus (still only 27) singing a country tune or two. She's a much hated singer because of Hannah Montana but she's actually having a brilliant voice as you can hear here - she can sing ;)

Just a little reminder - here she's 15

And 10 years later 23 December 2018 Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth got married

Her voice through the years

Hi Hoergren! Thank you very much. I'm glad you like them. I love Scotland as I think it's a beautiful place (where most of my ancestors came from). I've been many times. I love Scottish music as well as the country itself, people & dancers. Thank you very much for the songs.

I know Miley Cyrus as Billy Ray Cyrus's daughter. You know, the guy who sung achy breaky heart. I love that 1. I got taught the dance to that when I was on holiday in Malta. I agree that she has a brilliant voice. ;0)

I want to present one of the most interesting Danish singers, Aura Dione, who has been a little unlucky in her carreer. She's singer/songwriter/designer and decide pretty much all about her music. Decides how her videoes has to be made. In the first you can see one of ther passions - shoes. Out of hippie roots - learned to play guitar herself, when her parents were travelling around Australia for 2½ years. Debuted in 2008 (after appearing in a show earlier), and had a promising start until 2011 where her carreer got to a stop because of legal rights and trouble with her husband - co inventor of Skype - which was first solved in 2016. Began to issue new music in 2016. Here are some examples from her first period:

Her biggest #1 eg. in Germany

And from her new start - a little comment to her situation

Hope you like her - I'm glad she's back.

1stly, that Miley Cyrus 1 you shared about no-one being infallible really helped me as well as me just enjoying it because it reminded me that making mistakes is a human trait & although I know you need to admit you've made mistakes, apologise for them, explain, learn from them & move on & try my best to do this I have problems forgiving myself & tend to judge myself harshly. I do like her & she can sing.

Excuse me if I use these terms wrong but 1 reason why I asked you about hygge when you wrote it in your poem before Xmas is because I was advised to explore it & the only concept I got out of it at the time was wearing clothing made of fleece, chenille & that very soft, fluffy wool, wrapped up in a blanket with a hot chocolate or cup of tea & reading a book which helped me a lot so I asked in case you had other ideas but I have since bought a book & it advised me to have a go at using your terms as well as giving me more ideas. (I loved your poem.) So, onto my opinion of those Danish songs. I think they're hyggelig & ideal for when you're sat in you're hyggekrog with your candles burning, wrapped up in a blanket with your hot drink & book. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Apparently the Danish are the happiest people in the world.
