Never really keen on all the WWE/WWF/WCW stuff... appreciate it's entertainment and the guys are skilled and good at their job, but I much prefer competitive real sport. I used to like Hulk Hogan - probably because of his cameo in Rocky III but could generally found it a bit silly.

It's just ballet with fists really, isn't it? Choreographed man-grappling. It was a bit of fun for a while, the old Hulk, down and out, then he taps his hand on the floor, crowd goes David Batty. Another sign of faint life from the Hand, crowd starts swooning and spitting beer. Next thing ya know, kinda like Christopher Lee twitching back to compos mentis in a cobwebby coffin, Hulk is revived and pulling the other guys hair, to a soundtrack by Slade, and with Pom Pom girls high kicking just outside the ropes.

What's not to like about it?

I used to enjoy the wrestling when I was really tiny on 'World of Sport'..Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy; at the time I didn't know it was all rigged, although looking at it again it is obvious, but I was about 6 or 7 so I have decided to forgive myself.

I am finding myself watching a lot of wrestling lately. Just stuff from the 90s, mainly stuff from RAW and Nitro. Man, such good fun. Cheesy as hell but that is the point.

well all wrestling is "the shiz"..just the stuff you talk about has loads more money spent on it like props, poncey tights, lipgloss, n ladyboy costumes; All the fans have mullet hairdo's and have necks wider than their heads.

the uk stuff in 70s/80s was just fat blokes in a tatty ring "wrestling" each other in suspicious looking y-fronts and occasionally farting whilst being watched ringside by Fat Vera sitting in the smokey gloom in her curlers and sucking on murray mints.

Ok so these nutters clearly stand there waiting to be hit but this is just a tad more realistic than WWE and all the other stuff most watched as kids.

how often do they fight ?..once a year ?, must take ages to heal up, the fighting is staged but the blood is real isn't it ? or what ?. :s

The fighting and outcome are staged but everything else is real here. Crazy.

I love Japan wrestling. The fans there seem to appreciate the technical more than the entertainment. NJPW has some great matches, even from American wrestlers like Bryan Danielson, and, dare I say it, Hulk Hogan.

Anyone here gonna watch WM 30 just for the sake of it? I will be. Apparently The Rock might make an appearance too.
