where eagles dare also had clint eastwood in it. the movie holds you spellbound and on the edge of your seat the whole time.
in my estimation it is absolutely a masterpiece.
I used to catch some of those old world war movies a few years back.
I would also recommend another one: The Night Of The Generals
I love Richard Burton. You're right about "Where Eagles Dare," General…a cracking and classic WWII thriller. "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold," and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" are both top drawer, though not for a casual Sunday afternoon. Serious films. I haven't seen "Night of the Generals," but I'll check it out. Another "serious" Burton is "Look Back in Anger," one of his earliest.
