so we are in the same boat: you may want to catch "where eagles dare" and I want to see "the spy who came in from the cold".

where eagles dare also had clint eastwood in it. the movie holds you spellbound and on the edge of your seat the whole time.

in my estimation it is absolutely a masterpiece.

I used to catch some of those old world war movies a few years back.

I would also recommend another one: The Night Of The Generals

I love Richard Burton. You're right about "Where Eagles Dare," General…a cracking and classic WWII thriller. "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold," and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" are both top drawer, though not for a casual Sunday afternoon. Serious films. I haven't seen "Night of the Generals," but I'll check it out. Another "serious" Burton is "Look Back in Anger," one of his earliest.

stop farting around moxie. get your arse over to Camelot and just join. your name there will mean a lot to us. that will also give us a chance to always stay in touch. you can stop by and say hello anytime. Camelot doors will forever be open for you.

you will be glad to know that I have created a cool, new category there called "in search of excellence".

and your forum occupies a top billing there.

I will definitely make time for "spy who came in from the cold". I have to see it now.

burton was not too shabby in Cleopatra either. do you remember rex Harrison in that movie? he plays Julius Caesar.

Elizabeth taylor was sensational in that one.

rex is another one of my all time favorite actors.

seems like all my all time favorite actors are English.

only 4 exceptions: heston, Russell crowe, Charles Bronson, and steve mcqueen

it is just going to be a small society of really cool people who love tennis Mox.

we are not going to try to be a forum. just a small place for us to sort of stay in touch and talk some tennis here and there.

some of us have known each other for a very long time. we have to move forward and together in a spirit of friendship in my opinion.

I think we have done enough fighting to last us a lifetime.

now we will just do what we all should have been doing in the first damn place. we will just have fun.

we all have too much history together. we might as well just enjoy ourselves.

I made a post for you at the welcome center lady mox.

on the tennis front, rafa vs berdych is the night match tomorrow.

rafa looks extremely weary to me. he could have won yesterday`s match 6-3, 6-1 if he was not so spent physically and mentally.

he spent considerable physical and mental capital in winning so much this year. I am afraid he doesn't have much more to give at this point.

he needs to go and rest up for a few days.

interesting. that might give Czech republic a chance. berdych, on the average, does perform a little better in davis cup competition.

I would also have to consider his best surface to be hard courts.

nole is the best hard court player on the planet at the moment so they are counting on him to deliver 2 points obviously. lets see how it plays out.

I really hadn't realized that they had moved the finals up that much. That's a real commitment to giving the players a full 6 weeks off, btw, and I applaud it. That said, Czech Republic are fielding a strong team. Novak has pulled his punches in the past to be ready for DC, but I doubt he'll want to this year, if he has a chance to win the WTF. Berdych and Stepanek also played this week, though. I give the Czechs a much better chance than I would have a month ago. Should be a good one.

Clay Death said:
poor berdych. he simply can't find an answer for the clay warrior.

True enough…16 straight losses. Not sure how that takes him into DC, except more well-rested than he might have been.

what up lady mox.

I just got home. I am just now checking the news and stuff. looks like nadal wished berdych good luck for davis cup.

berdy has matured as a person over the years. now he has healthy respect for the clay warrior.

berdy is a cool chap.

I saw some of the highlights. nadal is still not playing all that well but I have to believe that he is fatigued.

but one thing concerns me: being tired does not mean that you have to give up the court. his court positioning is not good enough.

in other words, if you are tired then you try to control the center of the court. anyway we will talk more about that later.

you make an excellent point about Czech republic having their chances in this davis cup final.

hard courts give berdy a chance. he has enormous power off the ground and he can be trouble if he is on.

also berdy takes davis cup very seriously. this is his chance to shine.

nole is going to run out of gas sooner or later if he is extended in his next 3 matches at WTF.

I also think there is a small chance for an upset by the Czech Republic.

I will cheer for them.

Nadal was much sharper today, though not sure what happened in the second set. Berdy did get very hot then. And Rafa did give up some court position, but got more aggressive back in the 3rd.

Let's be honest…at this point, they're all fatigued. I think Rafa looks less so than all of them. I'm not worried about whomever he gets in the SFs, between Roger and DelPo, tbh. And I think he takes Djokovic in the final, if that's the one we get. May be fannish, but I'm feeling it. :)

¡Ojalá! as we say in Spanish.

We shall just see, but I think we're going to get the Rafa v. Nole showdown at the end of this thing. The last shoot-out of the year. Last man standing. I hope Rafa finally gets his YEC. :approved:
