ha ha ha.

then I could start another thread titled "The Resurgence Of Clay Warrior".

don't hold your breath. chances are very slim. you cant rely on luck to win slams.

Rafa has to put in the work. there is just a tiny window left but it is closing very bloody rapidly.

he wasted the last 2 years when he could have taken his ranking up to #2.

Andy has firmly established himself as a legitimate threat at RG.

he worked very hard for it and got the results he was after.

Ok, but we'll see who will have the last 'ha ha ha'. I will be in charge to change the title

andy was sharp from the baseline and also sharp at the net. he came to compete, fight, and win.

he was 13 for 17 at the net.

I did not see the match as I was chilling on the beach.

but I know what andy is capable of. one thing he wont do is cave in.

you just have to be ready because you never know when your opportunity is going to arrive.

what is impressive about this is that Andy does not have a dominating forehand.

so he is not going to win many encounters with djokovic. he just has to ambush djokovic now and then and catch him off guard.

one other thing: djokovic was not tired. he does not get tired.

Andy imposed his will on him. Andy would not back down today and it worked out.

All true, but you missed a good match. It seemed to take forever for one or the other to miss. They definitely are the two best returners in the business. If you don't see anything else you have to go to YouTube to see the matchpoint. It'll give you an indication of how they were playing today.

Andy has a chance at RG.

here are the 3 favorites:

1. very heavy favorite is djokovic
2. andy murray

3. rafa but only if the draw is right and the other 2 top guns stumble. it is better for Rafa if they both stumble.

one obviously has to go with Rafa should he meet djokovic in the final but it can run close as rafa's fitness is suspect.

andy vs djokovic final can run close too but that is a final that is likely to happen.

rafa could improved his lot in life going into RG this year but farting around was more important. he could have been seeded 2 or 4 but don't bring up sacrifices and long hard yards on the fitness front and in the training room around Rafa.

I LOL every time you use this word. I don't know why that is so funny to me.

"but farting around was more important."

Rafa really needs that 10th RG to get past Sampras.

15 majors has a much better ring to it.

Sorry, I've already fixed my mistake, I meant "who will have" and not 'how'
I agree, Rafa needs to win urgently RG, he has lost too much and that title would give him all the confidence and motivation he needs to continue a couple of years playing much better

I agree. I hope it happens.

he has a small chance this year but a much greater chance next year if he can stay healthy and step up his training and his fitness.

he can set some goals for 2017. 10th RG would allow him to sail away into the sunset with style.

@Tennis Fan is a cool cat.

By the way, bookies odds for an outright win at Roland Garros are currently as follows:

Djokovic 1.8
Nadal 4.5
Murray 6.0
Wawrinka 15.0
Nishikori 26.0
Federer 34.0
Thiem 41.0
Kyrgios 51

Just to explain, If you bet 10 bucks on Nadal, you'd get $45 + your stake money back = $55.

There are some good odds there if you are prepared to bet against Novak.

I'm going to bet on Nadal all the way for sure but we'll see how the draw looks.
I don't think Roger is ready to play but he probably will decide to do it but if not it would be very convenient for Rafa :yesyes: :good:
