Who looked better today? Rafa. Maybe Novak is just playing possum, or maybe he's ripe for a pick off. We'll see.

RG is still a small possibility but a lot will have to go right:

--the right Draw

Djokovic has to be in the opposite 1/2.

it is better to avoid Andy. Somebody has to derail Andy.

no long, drawn out matches in the early rounds.

But the outlook is not all that great at the moment.

Not all that much has changed. Rafa can't win the bigger events when Andy and Djokovic show up.

Stan is done and Roger is not feeling well. So they are not going to make any waves at RG.

A friendly draw would help his cause. I'm very much hoping to see Djoker on the opposite half. And Roger on his side. I wouldn't be completely sure about Wawrinka, though I'm as disgusted with him as everyone. However, last year he had no especially good results on clay, beyond a win over Nadal in Rome, and yet he played great in the 2nd week at RG and beat Djokovic. He's an erratic mystery, so who knows. Though I would bet one penny on him defending his title.

Stan wont make it at RG this time around.

he is washed up. he had his day in the sun.
He may be the luckiest player in this era. And most likely his luck has run out, I'll give you that.

these are the players that will win RG this year:

1. djokovic
2. murray

if djokovic stumbles then andy will capitalize.

there is really nobody else. all the stars in all of the universe have to line up just right for Rafa to win.

slams usually go the hardest possible workers with a laser like focus and drive and hunger off the charts.

that distinction belongs to djokovic. that is why he is taking everything he looks at.

he is going to get 20+ slams and 40-45 masters events. he just has no rivals. there is no real competition other than andy and he owns him too.

rafa is the only one who could have stopped him. he decided to run away.

now it is really too late. djokovic has lapped him a few times. how on earth can he catch djokovic when he cant even take a set from him.

he has now coughed up 15 straight sets to djokovic.

there is only one way out. it has to be clay and rafa has to put in the sacrifices.

he is fighting a little better on the court but there is still no hard work on the practice courts and very little work if any in the training room.

you cant beat djokovic unless you are willing to work as hard as him and you are as hungry as him.

Stan is the same animal as he's always been... it's not like he was competing for tournaments week in week out.... ever. He's unpredictable... Like I said in an earlier post, I didn't expect him to win majors from the the get go... but he can redline when in the mood and can be dangerous. The fact he's won all 9 of his last finals, including a couple this year indicates to me that he isn't washed up... it's the same old Stan - enigmatic, unpredictable, dangerous... but if you're looking for consistency... forget it.

Murray doesn't beat Nadal at Roland Garros... especially in the cauldron of a semi final or a final, which is what it is likely to be. Don't look to Madrid as a barometer.... despite being a clay court, it doesn't play like RG. Rome would be a better barometer... and you've just seen Nadal run Djoker close.

if Monaco can chop him up then even I may be able to chop him.

forget the past. you are living in the past dude. I am saying here and now. here and now stan is irrelevant.

who the hell is Monaco. he has not even played much in 2 years. he has no game.

what has stan done lately ON CLAY?

I don't count close but you can.

I say 10 wins in the last 11 matches for djokovic. most of those were total demolition jobs.

and 15 sets in a row.

it is like a school boy against a pro.

rafa has work to do and it is not getting done.

you said the same thing about murray here: you said that you don't see andy beating rafa in rome.

more later.

andy is tough on clay and getting better with each passing day. he is most certainly better than Rafa.

that is why tony said he doesn't want his player (Rafa) to deal with Andy. they don't want to face him.

these are the conditions:

rafa has to get nothing but hapless, legless, toothless clowns in the first 3 rounds and he has to gun them down in straights.

djokovic has to be in the other 1/2. and somebody needs to knock him off.

somebody has to derail andy also.

the gods have to basically part the red clay for Rafa.

translation: he needs a miracle and lots of luck to bag this RG.

next year is a better possibility but he has to put in the work.

Rafa has to get to the semis. once there, he might be able to pull it off but the chances are very small.

we will just have to see.

this RG has djokovic's name written on it. he is taking the next 7 slams.

he is probably taking their wives and their children also if he just so much as sets his eyes on them. and he will take their pets too.

I don't think we can rule out anybody at RG. Stan might not have been a factor this clay court season so far, but RG is the new tournament coming up. It is always nice to come back to a place where a player had success before.

I would think Nole, Andy and Rafa should be the favourites but that doesn't mean that either one of them will win. The draws will be important, the matches in earlier rounds, the weather, everything counts.

Based on Rafa's clay form (best since 2014), he's second favorite at Roland Garros. I see him ahead of Murray.

Last year at RG, I had no hope Nadal could beat Novak in the quarters. This year, my hope is similar to 2014 (when I thought Novak would probably win, but gave Rafa a decent chance).

Nadal has a chance at Roland Garros this year. Novak is not as sharp as 2011-2015.

Good synopsys General Postpre... very close to how I see it. Novak will be the favourite, but Nadal will definitely be in the mix. I'd look at it as 65/25/10 in favour of the Serb (65%), Rafa (25%) and the rest of the field (10%) on who I expected to prevail at RG.
