Evening gents.

Hi, Sid!

I see you're new here at TF, and Murray aligned. That's so exciting. Our dear Iona has been holding down the fort/castle all alone for quiet a long time. Welcome!

Ashwin, your username rings a bell. Did you used to post on Tennis Warehouse?

Nope..must be a coincidence..the only tennis sites i am registered to are :

t3nnis.tv
tennishaven
tennis frontier
tennis 4 you
MTF ( left that site a long time ago.-- just after 1 week i joined to be precise )

was watching Verdasco's match..i think he might lose this one if he does not control his temper..he's been frustrated since the moment he lost that tight 2nd set TB..:nono

Cool. By the way Admiral ashwin, don't forget to pick a castle to go on the opening post of the thread and let us know who your favourite player(s) are.

guys I have a suggestion. we will have to find a way to gather support from the locals otherwise the castle concept will be a very slow process.

that is one of the biggest reasons why the castle did not work out at mtf. the locals did not support it. in fact they hated it and did not want it to succeed.

there were at least 7-8 long time locals/regulars there who never bothered to meet and greet anybody new that came along. I actually managed to bring hundreds of people there. the regular, long time locals never came to the castle to welcome them and stuff. in fact they went out of their way to avoid the castle.

we seldom go back to places where people are not kind and not friendly to us. so people would come and then just leave.

these locals have never cared for any growth there. they ran off quite a few people there over the years.

the owner is loyal to them so he did not intervene. scott is really too nice.

so these locals not only never ever bother support the castle, they also attacked and insulted just anybody they could get their hands on.

ask general sid all about it.

we are a tiny community here. I think we should try to support as many threads here as possible. that is one way to let the newcomers and guests know that we are all getting along and they we are somewhat active and responsive and the like. and that we care about our forum.

I will try to do the same thing. I am not around much during the day as I am really quite busy but I am usually around in the evenings.

anyway another reason the castle failed there was because of repeated violent and savage attacks on the castle. the owner, as nice and kind as he is, failed to step in and stop those attacks. one savage attack went on for 6 days.

and the recent one also went on for about 6 days. that was just too much.

their existing global mod just stood by and did nothing. just ask general nekro all about it. he is sharp as they come and he is objective.

now general slasher the invincible has been added to the global mod ranks there so hopefully things will work out for them. and we do wish them the best of luck.

but its pretty clear why the castle failed there. they failed the castle by offering little or no support and by offering zero protection. many of these people just did not have the courage of their convictions to stand up and do the right thing.

they were dying for it to fail so it failed.

some folks had asked me as to what really happened there. I thought I might offer a few remarks on that front.

the castle at mtf worked out. they have 64-65 volumes and each volume has 5000 posts. it is their most popular thread ever.

Hi CD,

Appreciate your input and we are pleased to have you and the Castle concept and look forward to assisting with it's growth.

A few things to touch on:

1) The admins/mods of the site are all supporting the growth of the Castle. I think it's fair to say we (as in myself, tented, moxie, kskate and johnsteinbeck) have all been in the Castle on a daily basis and made an attempt to welcome new members. We will continue to do so.

2) The community is small but increasing in numbers and activity reasonably quickly.

Bear in mind, we began this from a standing start about 3 months ago. In all honesty, when you combine the WTA and ATP boards, I don't honestly see it as much less active than a site such as tennis4you or tennis.com in it's latter years. Both of which which had been going for 14 years.

We're also welcoming new users each week. A number of arrived from ESPN this week as well as some from tennis4you (largely down to you).

This may not have translated to people visiting the castle yet - but we will promote it to the users and new people arriving. Bear in mind, the Castle has only been here a few days. It will take a little time to grow, but grow it will.

Some people don't like chat threads though, so not every user is going to jump into the Castle... but some will for sure.

3) Moderation

We adopt a light touch moderation policy and have a warning system. However, I have seen in the past on several boards what damage an out of control user can do.

On this site, we have moderators in different timezones, so invariably one or more is on the site at any one time (usually). Any issues are sorted out swiftly.

4) Gameplan

We are working behind the scenes on a bigger gameplan for the site to continue momentum and growth and attract site visitors. Our monthly unique visitors rose by over 10,000 last month over the previous month's figures. We have plans to engage social media a lot more and grow the site in other ways. We'll be rolling out new facets to the site for the remainder of the year. We, as a team are vested in continued growth and expansion - this will never become a stagnant site.

Hope that gives you some inkling of where we are going. This is going to be the best tennis website in the business. We've come a long way in three months but appreciate there is a lot to do and we relish the opportunities and challenges.

affirmative on all accounts baron britbox the conqueror.

it feels good to be finally a part of something special and something truly unique.

we all need a place we can call home. people will be proud to call this place home.

I agree on the growth part. it will come our way given our momentum and our confidence. we will be fine as long as we do the right thing.

we can all take pride in building lasting and enduring friendships here and building a forum that is a cut above.

I will be putting together a mission statement for the castle later on tonight.

we will display that castle mission statement directly under our main castle on the opening/introductory page.

Were you able to go to the beach today? My father lives on the Gulf Coast, so I know it can be beautiful down there.

I went for a 60 mile bike ride and then I went to the beach for a couple of hours with some friends.

it was a great day for me today general tented the invincible.

I love the ocean. I think I get my some of my energy from the ocean.

does your dad live in florida?

I am on the Mississippi gulf coast. I live on the golf course but the gulf of mexico is 7 miles away from my home.

general tented I have a feeling that this place is going to be something special.

all we have to do is keep welcoming the new folks with open arms when they come.

I just invited Rachel and Galadriel. Rachel is from new York and Galadriel is from Germany.

hopefully we will see lady emma, and lady ann soon as well.

emma told me she was coming soon.

this is going to take time. it takes a while for the folks to get comfortable with new places.

I am just now catching up with all the sports news. first things first:

1. congrats to froome. he becomes the 2nd straight Englishman to snag the tour de france glory. no way to stop him now. 5 minute lead is impossible to overcome now.

Bradley wiggins conquered the tour last year.

2. I see roger managed to exit hamburg. I cant believe that both tommy and roger are out of hamburg. I thought one of them was going to capture the crown there.

Sure, it will take time. As Barton Britbox pointed out in his eloquent post earlier today, the site is still rather new, however it is growing steadily. It's very exciting, really, so thank you for bringing The Castle to us, and for inviting so many new men and women.

To paraphrase the Borg (any Star Trek geeks out here?), this influx of nobility will only add to our perfection.

folks please make a note of the castle mission statement at tennis frontiers:

**we will display this mission statement directly below our main castle image that is seen at the very top of our opening page.

I've picked Stirling Castle. The William Wallace
monument is on the right hand side. Picking my
favourite castle was tough but I’ve had to go with Stirling
Castle. It’s one of Scotland’s grandest castles due to its imposing
position and impressive architecture.

It towers over some of the most important battlefields of Scotland’s past
including Stirling Bridge, the site of William Wallace and *Andrew
Murray’s victory over the English in 1297, and Bannockburn where
Robert the Bruce defeated the same foe in the summer of 1314.

Situated on a volcanic outcrop guarding the lowest crossing point of
the River Forth, Stirling Castle is a great symbol of Scottish
Independence and a source of enduring national pride. The castle’s
long, turbulent history is associated with great figures from Scotland’s
past, such as William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Mary Queen of
Scots. It has seen many royal dramas and witnessed the lives and
deaths of almost every Scottish monarch up to the Union of the
Crowns in 1603.

*The other Andy Murray was awarded the freedom of Stirling
in 2012. He is set to receive this accolade when he attends
a reception that is being held in his honour at Stirling Castle.
