I will check these out now generalito.

8 RG crowns is just massive. it is beyond sick.

most players do not even get to sniff the 2nd round there, let alone make the final to even have a shot at one title.

its a little bit like the masters events. vast majority of the pros cant even get in the main draw. that is how tough the sport is.

I can't fire one up in this section because I have no Moderator abilities or anything like that. I'm sorry bro. And I think there is already a football thread but I want to have one here as well combined with other sports!

agreed. baron might be asleep. I don't know what time it is in Australia at the moment.

I am sure he will check your post when he wakes up generalito.

that football thread over at the "other sports" place is not too active. it has just 2 posts.

I was just taking a look. I did not see a cycling thread.

those are high visibility sports. they need to be in a highly visible place.

we will check with baron and see if he can place cycling + football right next to the castle.

in the mean time, you can maybe come up with some ideas anyway as to how you are going to start it up. maybe a cool title or something.

I liked "The Sports bar" ... something you have come up with at another forum, haven't you?

What are you doing at the moment generalito. The Castle is a success here again. I also checked out and left a couple of posts in the MTF Castle today.

Hey Enrique,

I have moved the Other Sports section up so it now sits next to the Castle. You will be able to fire up threads in there.

that idea might work actually generalito. I started a sports bar at tennis4u and then later changed it to the castle.

it could be called a "Euro Sports bar" with the talk centered on the key European sports like cycling and football.

here is what it would do as we continue to grow here:

1. tap a slightly different market. you could start to attract some folks who are more interested in football and cycling as the word gets around.

2. greater visibility by being next to the castle

the way I see it, nothing ventured and nothing gained.

I am just chilling mate. I am about to fix a drink and relax.

it looks quite threatening again outside. I was going to go for a little run on the golf course but that idea is being scratched.

this was unexpected after the year he had last year:

..

Federer seeded 7th at US Open; Djokovic No. 1 man
The Associated Press – 2 hours 28 minutes ago..

NEW YORK (AP) -- Roger Federer is seeded No. 7 for the U.S. Open, his first slot outside the top three at any Grand Slam tournament since he was 13th at Flushing Meadows in 2002.

Federer's ranking dropped two slots to seventh on Monday, and the U.S. Tennis Association's seedings followed the ATP standings.

Federer's record 17 Grand Slam titles include five at the U.S. Open. He's among five former champions in the men's field, including No. 1-seeded Novak Djokovic, No. 2 Rafael Nadal, and No. 3 Andy Murray, who won the 2012 title.

Federer was seeded No. 1 at 18 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments from 2004-08.

The U.S. Open women's seedings will be announced Tuesday; the draw is scheduled for Thursday.

Play at the year's last major tournament starts next week.

Hey Britbox! Thanks for creating a thread but the "Other Sports" Section is a little bit unorganized with all the threads.

Don't you think a "Sports Bar" concept in the Castle Chat area fits perfect? It's just a suggestion mate.

now I wonder how isner and berdych will do at the open. they both pulled out of this event today with injuries:

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- The biggest news at a soggy Winston-Salem Open on Monday wasn't made by who advanced. It was who pulled out.

Two-time defending champion John Isner and top seed Tomas Berdych withdrew from the tournament.

After the day's early matches were delayed 4 hours, 10 minutes due to rain, James Blake beat fellow American Rhyne Williams 6-1, 7-5, in a first-round match.

But the day's big story was the withdrawals of the two players who met in last year's final: Isner pulled out with a hip injury, and Berdych withdrew with right shoulder pain. Isner beat Berdych in last year's championship match.

what do you guys make of this deal?

A podium kiss in Moscow has led to further attention being shone on Russia's harsh new homosexuality laws.

Russian runners Kseniya Ryzhova and Tatyana Firova kissed on the podium after winning the 4x400 meter relay at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow. According to Sky News, sources in the Russia team camp are downplaying the incident, saying it was simply a celebration and there were no politics involved. Gay Star News, however, points out that the kiss could theoretically have seen the pair arrested under Russia's controversial new "gay propaganda" laws as it could be promoting homosexuality.

"what do you guys make of this deal?"

I think Russia needs to wake up, and realize it's the 21st century. And I hope those women aren't arrested.

I'll see what the other admins think. My main thoughts being that until we have a bigger user base then we might be diluting things too much if we have similar topics in different places.

affirmative general tented.

I am not sure what to make of it. it may just have been a friendly/affectionate kiss.

arresting them is a very bad idea.

there are far worse crimes out there than 2 people showing some affection.

some women are like that. they are more affectionate than the others.

General CD,

I don't care why those women were kissing. If it was a spontaneous act of celebration, fine. If they're lovers/girlfriends, fine. If they were bringing attention to Russia's draconian homophobic laws, fine.

I just don't want them -- or any others -- to be arrested for being gay, doing something which could be interpreted as their being gay, or speaking out in favor of gay rights.

It's pathetic that we're still even debating this issue.

Hi Javi,

I've organized the Sports section a little better, so the main sports chat threads are stickies at the top.
