If Fed wins the Paris title, Federer will replace Djokovic at No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Rankings and Emirates ATP Race To London unless the Serb reaches the final.

Rog is out and will be stuck at 8700 till Nov. 10th at least.

Rog has lost the battle, but not the war (atleast not yet).

Novak could potentially increase the lead to 1160, if he wins the Bercy tourney outright.

I wonder if Roger's hitting the wall, at last. He's playing indoors, practicing on indoor clay, trying ti get to the summit, thinking also about the DC, and having to face blokes like Milos, who have their own greedy agenda. I wouldn't write him off just yet, because I fancy Andy to win tonight, but it might be that Roger's getting enforced rest just when he wants to play...

For Fed to have realistic chances Novak needs to lose either in QF or SF. Novak reaching
the finals, let alone winning, makes it extremely difficult.

Oh well, it wasn't meant to be. I know it isn't over yet, but Roger's loss today--and Novak's win--really puts a chunk in his chances.

The current lead of 520 is already something beyond 500 that can be compensated by
winning WTF against Novak (assuming both reach the finals with the same record in RR).
So, Roger would need Davis Cup in order to overcome Novak now.

If Novak wins SF also, his lead will be 760 and that would place Roger trailing by
260 if he wins the WTF and gains 500. But, the 260 is not something that can be
compensated by the DC stuff as Rog can gain a maximum of 225 there.

So, for all practical purposes Novak is through if he wins the SF here.

Well if he can't beat the likes of Raonic in the big match to keep it interesting then he truly didn't deserve it. It'd still qualify as a decent year if he snags YEC. It should help that there is a week off now.

To be honest, I don't fancy Novak to win Paris, so this battle may yet go to London. I wonder if there's any scenario that has them face off in London in a winner takes all death-mill? Possibly a semi final clash would do it...

Actually, sod this for a lark - Novak to win in straights! :devil
