Retirement looks imminent, 16 ue in first 6 games and it’s happening in almost every match for months now. Gives the naysayers (mostly Novak fans) pleasure to say he was never the real deal. Could’ve done a Sampras when he had the chance.

We can never write these guys off of course. They're special athletes. It's only last year Novak looked like a lost cause. But I'm not too down on him not retiring yet, he did win a slam this year after all. I think he deserves at least a year, i.e., 2019, to see if he can remain a genuine contender at slams. He's said it himself, if he doesn't feel like he can win anymore he won't need anyone to tell him to go.

I'm still holding out hope that he just got lazy with training after Miami this year. I haven't seen any of Basel but from what I saw of Roger in Shanghai his forehand had no power, he was slow, and his serve was pretty weak. Fed has been carrying a bit of a gut since Cincy. If Roger has been working hard and he is still playing like this then he is toast because this level isn't going to get it done at majors or even MS events.

He's in a tough one w/ this Copil guy; never heard of him! I like his game; solid w/ a one-handed BH! Sascha's gone in 3 long sets!
Copil is a Romanian late bloomer. His hometown is just 110 kilometers south of where I was born :)

Well Roger found his game and Medvedev's helping with incompetent play! Just unbelievable how players forget their games like Daniil! Roger's up a set and 2 breaks in less than 40 minutes! What a change from one day to the next! :nono:  :negative:  :ptennis:

Fed throws dollar bills on coin thrower; clearly showing who is the boss.

Thanks Simon for bringing Fed to form.

Great win for Copil. All the way from the qualifiers.

Impressive stuff. Back when he was good, people got Rogered by Roger. Guess now they're getting Copilated by Copil :lulz1:

Oh boy; the OLD Fed has shown up! Lost his breaks in the 2nd and is now in a dogfight! WTF is going on? Fed holding on by the skin of his ancient teeth! Serving for the final now, but still struggling to retain form! It's over in strts! :nono:  :banghead:   :ptennis:

Must have been the rare good performance from Roger. It is past time to win #99 tomorrow, then rest for YEC. I suspect his chances are still next to none there this year.

Folks be careful; they are changing the clock overnight in Basel. If you are planning to see the match live, keep that in mind.

What a great game by Copil, I hope he will keep it tomorrow even that he will have the crowd against
