I haven't been able to watch any of Roger's matches recently, but I'm encouraged by the last two or three. Kei is playing well and back to his top 10 form, so this was a good challenge for Roger.

Of course now there's the next opponent, but even though he'll probably lose, it will give us a better sense of where he's at and if he's got a chance at the WTF.

Nice to see Khachanov do well. Not particularly a fan, but am always rooting for NextGenners. I pair him with Medvedev, in a way that I paired Thiem and Vesely when they were coming up at the same time. But whereas Vesely stalled out and Thiem jumped forward, both KK and DM have reached the top 20 together. They were leapfrogging a bit, but seem similar in upside. Best-case scenario and they're in the Berdych/Tsonga range.

After the match, Roger said that he was pleased to have gone so far in this tourney. He said that, since he was tired from Basel, he figured he'd get beaten fairly early. Seems to be facing the prospect of meeting Djokovic sanguinely.

I also group the big Russians together.
3 years ago when teenagers, Khachanov was way in front, breaking into the top 100 earlier.
Medvedev came up later and caught up to him.
Now they are moving up in tandem, like cyclists, following each other closely.

It's been a while since Kafelnikov & Safin; bout time Russia finally trained a few men to actually break into the high echelons of tennis! The women have owned it for a couple decades! :yesyes:  :ptennis:

Nah, Olderer will show up instead, the one who shits his pants when sees Novak across the net.

Wow...the Big 3 competition is getting ugly. You're not usually so profane, @herios. Could be a fun match tomorrow. At the risk of playing into the Fed conspiracy theorists' game, Annacone says the surface is playing slow. :drums:

I hope he gets annihilated so a certain person might disappear with embarrass and shame, but not sure it's possible! Is it possible to show real shame? :nono:  :cuckoo:   :rip:
Who would that be, my icon-loving friend?

Annacone's so FOS! I'm shocked; no I'm not! Fed's his boy! He has to do whatever he can to help the old guy out! :nono:

Federer vs Djokovic... I don’t care who wins but if the score is 6-0, 6-0 it would be amazing as there will be a lot of butthurt :good:
