This event had odd winners in the past, but if Karen wins, this will not be his last one trust me . He is young and improving.

What was more odd than SOCK winning last year? It got him to the YEC and he wasn't the same player; unable to come close to his potential until this week where he defended pretty well! He says he needs that long off season and it showed! :nono:  :cuckoo:

Nice hands again by KK at the net.. not something he has showcased in previous times I've watched him.

Forget the whiny, inconsistent Zverev, this guy is the real deal. So impressed. First ever masters 1000 final and he wins it. How quickly things can change in sport.

Congrats to Karen. Truly deserved.
He did all the heavy lifting, defeating 3 top 10 players I a row: Zverev, Thiem, Djokovic. Very impressed.

Does this mean Isner's been knocked out of the 2nd Alt. spot next week? Rafa will probably default or WD after a match; we'll see!
No. There was a big gap between Isner and rest.
Isner is the first alternate, Karen will be second.

Thats it, Djoker at least come to No.1, with a loss. He was clearly out in the last two matches.

Khacanov play reminds me on Jerzy Janowicz.

Everyones the real deal just after they won mate. Zverev will win enough stuff over future years... don't write him off... KK will likely be in the mix... Stefanos will be... maybe Shapo (I'm not quite as convinced on his upside as others) ,.and others too.. It's just good to see some of these young guys marking their card. I don't really think guys like Fritz are going to be big players like herios thinks, but we've got 10 years and more to find out.

Djokovic was pretty average today but KK took it to him and didn't freeze. Nice hands at the net (something I haven't really seen from him before)... Liked his composure.

I am also impressed by Kachanov. When I watched him for the first time last year, he used to miss lot. Now he can hit shots with nice angles and he can retrieve low balls that can be difficult for someone his height. In addition, he is willing to scrap, which is rare for tall players. He has improved immeasurably.

He has improved his defense and net game. And he is more consistent from the baseline.
He had already the power. Now, he has the lethal combination.

Congrats to Karen. Big milestone for him.
I do like his game very much. I do think he may be a bit heavy on the feet , just like most big dudes are and may struggle against guys that can rush and take time away from him, like Roger, but since there is only one Roger and he is on his way out, I don't know who has the ability to do that . He has a bright future.

So, they just mentioned Karen is the first aRussian to win a master since Davydenko 9 years ago.
