It's "cold" comfort from my Rafa-centric POV, but if he had to bag a RG, this was the one. What a mess! It seems all but certain they'll have a Monday final on the men's side, doesn't it?

Gasquet ain't making the final M. Yeah, he's played well so far, but Stan or Murray are more likely - he'll potentially need to go through both - can't see it myself.

Thiem is an interesting one - I think he wins this in the future but not this year. If Novak somehow flunks this, then maybe he'd be my favourite to get there too..... but maybe not win it.

I'm wondering about your lack of confidence in Novak turning this around though.
I'm also rather surprised at Mastoor. (As @Twisted said, perhaps an alien has taken over his keyboard. Or maybe a bit of superstition about being too confident.) Novak has been playing tetchy and less than A+ for a while (meaning much of the clay season,) but that has to be at least 50-70% pressure of RG. He hasn't looked poor here, just unsettled.

Thiem is ripening faster than expected, but it would be a shock if he got past everyone to win it all. I hope he makes the SF and plays Novak. But as for Gasquet, I'm with the doubters. I think Murray/Stan would have to collapse for him to overcome both, and I don't think either of them are especially bothered by not being a crowd favorite.

Jumping ahead a bit on Thiem, but I would be sad if he doesn't get through that section, as I'm not as interested in Granollers, Gulbis or Goffin facing Novak.

Watching Novak-Agut replay match I can see that the 4-1 of the third set doesn't reflect the good figth that Agut even losing has given Novak. Anyway I think the wet conditions of the clay always has favored to Novak's game

It'll come down to who can best calm their nerves and get to the task of playing well when they do actually go on court. Nole came out as moody as the weather, it's human nature. I am sure he'll settle down once he doesn't have to run in rain and mud. I hope they won't make them play the last 3 rounds 3 days in a row. Surely they will have to give them at least 1 day off somewhere in between the matches? At least all top half players are in the same boat, even if the other half is at advantage right now.

We need rain to really go away. :yesyes:

I guess most here will agree that for Gasquet to win the would need a bad display from Murray, but I do not completely agree. He is the underdog, true, but if he catches fire he can give anyone trouble, specially Murray. After his win over Wawrinka last Wimbledon, he is not a dead duck anymore.

Great tennis between Ferrer and Berdych but my French blood pushes me to switch on Gasquet's match. Hope this is as good as this one :)
Richie"l probably need your French blood..I'll support him too even if I don't think he can make it happen

And asking the same ball to serve if he won the previous point... tennis drives you crazy :)

It's hilarious when he does that. I watched him play Cilic at Cincy last year and literally after every single point that he won on serve he needed to have the same ball for the next point. In the last game with Gasquet serving for the match Cilic tried to hit it out of the stands, it got near the top and Dickie still waited patiently for the fan to throw it back in. It was priceless.

As expected, Richie is causing a lot of problems. I still figure Murray will find a way, he always does against Gasquet in these situations.

Stan making quick work. Even though he has had a pretty easy path it seems he is getting his superhero costume out and starting to morph into the Stanimal. Not good news for whoever he plays in the semis.

Reeechaard!!! Normally when he wins the first 2 sets against Murray (to capitulate later) he blows him away. This is different
