Probably just a difference in semantics. Our opinions of him are not that far disparate. His ambition is what intrigues me. He's added Moyà, and now he's got McEnroe in as a consultant for grass. If nothing else, he's very serious.

Oh no, I totally respect what he's doing/done, but the guys at the top know to get him bending low with those low volleys and they can also expose his movement. The good thing for him is that they're aging and probably soon to be out of the game, but right now, I don't think he's that close. Going through all of the tops guys in one tournament doesn't seem doable at this time. Their movement and tennis acumen is too high.

It's nice to see him taking himself seriously and doing everything that he can to reach the top; in short, taking his career seriously, that in itself is admirable.

I take all of your points, and I agree. But if you asked me who I'd favor v. Raonic over more multi-talented guys like Dimitrov and Gulbis at this point, I'd take Raonic any day. It's the x-factor of actually giving a shit which translates to competitiveness. Roanic is not going anywhere out of the top 10, or far from it, soon. I'll give that the respect it deserves.

It's not about favoring anyone. I just don't think that Raonic has what it takes. I also find him boring and robotic, so there's that. I don't care for Dmitrov or Gulbis either. Neither one does anything for me, game style, personality wise, nada.

I do respect that he takes his career seriously, but that's about it.

I think it becomes about what a player's ceiling is. I don't think that Raonic's is as high as that of the more talented. But he works hard to keep himself in the conversation, more than some others. Basically, we're in the same place about what we expect out of Raonic.

I don't expect anything out of Raonic. I was just expressing what I think about the hype surrounding him. I think it's unwarranted and until he proves me wrong, I'm standing by that.

I figured RBA to make it a tougher day on Novak, than usual, but the weather can't help the mood. It looks like they might stop again before it's over.

Yeah, I can imagine a few delays taking place today and no doubt some of them will impact this match. Novak lacking his usual precision while RBA has just been pretty solid without setting the world alight.

Coming in I figured this would be a good test for Nole to see if he is sharpening up his game. So far it is the type of erratic play we've seen since the start of Rome. And that type of play could lead to a very long day vs. a "solid" pusher like RBA.
