Only time will tell. For all we know, Carlos may have already peaked and in 20 years time, we may be looking back at this match in the same light as Hewitt-Agassi in the 2002 US Open semifinals. Hewitt was 21 and already won 2 slams. Nobody would have thought that day that Hewitt would never win another slam.Carlos is young, he’s advanced. He’s probably the best we’ve seen at his age. He’ll learn. There’s no shame in anything he did today. He’s a great kid…
There's always a way AP. He can surprise Djoke by playing the match of his life. Unlikely, but not impossible. Is there's any way Rudd can win on Sunday
I suppose Gaudio won this trinket once upon a time. Nothing is impossible, but the more likely scenario is Novak Djokovic becomes the transcendent GOAT. A few Fedal diehards will disagree... but it will be lost in the noise. There's always a way AP. He can surprise Djoke by playing the match of his life. Unlikely, but not impossible.
And Gaudio won it against the proverbial fave. So again, not likely but not impossible.I suppose Gaudio won this trinket once upon a time. Nadal fans are beside themselves right now. The behavior is not surprising. They are not able to deal with the inevitable. How pathetic to see the same pattern of all you djoker haters express your hatred ins such cheap ways.
alcaraz was asked about djoker’s pumping and he said he would’ve done the same thing as it’s paycholigically difficult to close a match when your opponent is seemingly wounded. It’s easy for your intensity to drop and that can be dangerous. Alcaraz stressed after match he would’ve probably done the same and that it was totally fine.
gosh, we really have some of you who just are filled with negative emotions primarily as you can’t accept what djoker is doing, simply racing to record books and deckaring himself goat. It’s so petty and patthetic how you djoker haters behave.
Novak could get injured in the final. That can never be excluded in tennis. There's always a way AP. He can surprise Djoke by playing the match of his life. Unlikely, but not impossible.
Even if he somehow doesn't get it tomorrow, he should get it in London. I don't see anybody right now who can stop him thereNadal fans are beside themselves right now. The behavior is not surprising. They are not able to deal with the inevitable.
He could, but I try not to bring that stuff up because I don't wish injuries on anyoneNovak could get injured in the final. That can never be excluded in tennis.
A slamless fave who folded like a cheap suit. Djokovic is no Coria. Agreed, nothing is ever impossible, but I fully expect Novak to get over the line and be crowned French Open champion, and by proxy of his 23 majors (not in isolation to the other records) claim the unofficial title of "Greatest of All Time", for those who care about such titles. And Gaudio won it against the proverbial fave. Classy bloke, that Carlos. Of course, nothing he said means that Djoker was not typically lacking in class when celebrating points won against an opponent who physically couldn’t respond..'I don't blame him for anything' - Alcaraz on Djokovic 'controversy'
Carlos Alcaraz defended Novak Djokovic after being questioned about the Serb's behaviour following the pair's 2023 French Open semi-final clash.www.tennis365.com
“I don’t blame him for anything. He had to close the match. It’s challenging to play against someone who isn’t at 100%. While they may experience a downturn, you can’t afford to have that downturn and instead must find a way to close the match,” Alcaraz said in his post-match press conference.
“Clenching your fists helps maintain intensity and allows you to close the match as quickly as possible. I don’t blame Djokovic for doing that. The truth is, if I were facing someone who was injured or not playing at their best, and I experienced a slump, I would likely do the same. Closing a match is never easy.”
For the record, I didn't suggest he was.For the record, Nadal isn't retired.
I underestimated him. He hadn’t displayed the level of tennis he played in the first sets since he was in Australia. It was masterful use of the entire court and both guys covered a lot of ground those first two sets.As far as the tennis is concerned. Some underestimated djokovic. He’s GOAT for a reason.
The first set was a wake up call for Carlitos. He wast ready. This wast tsitsipas, musetti he was facing but the GOAT with arguably most complete game ever and physical and mental qualities the mortals lack.
Carlitos is a complete player who has no weaknesses but one slight advantage novak has is ability to take the ball earlier. Carlitos has the advantage when both have time as he has more pace so novak knew he had to win the battle of court positioning and taking ball early, he did in 1st set. Contrary to what many expected, it was novak largely dictating rallies and rushing alcaraz, particularly on carlito’s fh side. Catlitos seems rushed and surprised by novak’s pace and court coverage. After a few games, cariltos knew he was in a different type of match and looked tense and under pressure. He was feeling the wrath of the goat.
1st set was domination by novak, second set could’ve gone either way, the change in momemtum was thrilling. Carlitos relaxed and adjusted. Watching these two play is fun, they way they were using pace, coming to net, using droppers, running down balls… it’s a chess match of two complete players
I think most of tennis community underestimated Novak. There was always hope that he can play toe to toe with this version of Alcaraz and he did. It was kind of a similar situation like last year when Novak came to Rafa in QF full of expectations that he can beat him again, even bookies set up the odds in Novak's favor similar to yesterday's odds on Alcaraz and then boom, Rafa played his best match of the tournament. Expectations sometimes do weigh on the players.I underestimated him. He hadn’t displayed the level of tennis he played in the first sets since he was in Australia. It was masterful use of the entire court and both guys covered a lot of ground those first two sets.
Going forward, I imagine he may be selective about the Masters tournaments with the goal of peaking for the slams.
