Brief look behind the scenes into the Roland Garros locker room.

Funny seeing Delpo and Diego Schwartzman side by side.

When was this shot? I think directly after their 4R I think?

DP and Isner casually hanging out together after their match lol. Also, I thought who is that kid hanging out there in the locker room, then realised it was little Diego. Man the guy is tiny!

Ah, so Nadal will straight set Del Potro, but he would have struggled vs Nishikori, Goffin, or Dimitrov?
Your choosing those guys in the draw but not Thiem, Djokovic or Sverev who were conveniently put in the other 1/2 of the draw? Let's be real about what a nice draw this was. Don't you think those guys would have been a tougher draw that DelPo/Cilic/or Diego?

Broken's point about where Djokovic landed in the draw as being the only real feature is well-made. Britbox asked earlier today who Nadal fans thought had a chance against him, and the responses were Djokovic, which I'd already weighed in on. Given that he is the biggest threat (I think we'd all agree,) it's probably best for him and his fans that he's in the other half. He's going to need the wins and the confidence. And with it all on the line, I don't think Rafa wants to see Novak on the other side of the net in the final. Somehow, I suspect that the complaint about the "ease" of the draw is about hoping that Nadal would have, with a tougher path, been worn down enough by the late stages that someone would have a better chance of catching him up. I think that's a false hope. There is a reason that he has the best-of-5 record on clay that he has: he's fitter than everyone else, and mentally tougher for the long-haul. And better. Other than that, it gets tougher from here on out for everyone, Nadal included. As it should. I've said it before, but it's also true of Roger on grass and when he's playing well, or Novak at his best: there just isn't a really tough draw for them.
I have no illusions that anyone here was going to beat Nadal. His road to the championship would have been tougher with Thiem, Djokovic and Zevev in his draw than Diego, Cilic/Delpo...I don't think Nadal will lose a set here. I also agree that best 3 out of 5 at RG is virtually impossible to beat him...

Zverev has to be in the opposite side of the draw as he's the #2 seed. #1 and #2 are never on the same side of the draw. And, while you're at it, you can add Djokovic and Zverev to the list of guys who have already crashed out.

Anyway, I'm tired of explaining a very simple point, in which I have NEVER denied that this is an easy draw.

I'm not convinced that any guys on the other side of the draw are a tougher out than Delpo. While I think Thiem has the ability to beat Rafa, there's only one guy in this tournament who deep in his bones will believe he can take Rafa on. And that guy is Delpo. Not saying he'll win, but he's a stone cold killa. Look... I get that folks want to criticise the draws that Rafa gets at slams. That might make sense at any other slam, but at RG? Puh-leeze... all RG draws will look relatively straight forward for Rafa unless he has Novak and Stan balling at their best. For what this tournament had to offer right from the start I only saw two viable prospects, Thiem and Delpo. The way I see it, this tournament has been a sight better than the one last year. Rafa still wins though.. it is what it is and that's all it is

Stat guys, help needed here. Has anyone ever won a slam with all his matches being 5 setters? What is the most amount of 5 setters played by a player on his way to the title?
I have a partial answer for you, @Murat Baslamisli. The Guardian says that no one in the modern era has one 4-5 setters in a row. So that settles winning a major that way. Don't about the most played by a winner.

Robredo, of all the people, won three five setters in a row at RG'13. Moreover, when he did that he was nobody coming from an injury break after along time.

If we’re talking slams in general then let’s not forget Roger at AO17

Edberg at the US Open in 92 won three consecutive 5 setters and came back from a break down in the fifth in all 3 (Krajicek, Lendl, and Chang) before beating Sampras in the final. That's one hell of a tough draw!

Yeah but did he have go through Nishikori and Goffin?

I remember that run...it was amazing.

He played 3, but not in a row.

I'm pleased with Zverev finally reaching a QF - that was my prediction.

I think one or both of del Potro and Thiem can take a set off of Rafa, but he looks pretty unstoppable now.

Novak's last eight Slams, going back chronologically: QF, 4R, A, QF, QF, 2R, F, 3R. That looks like a Berdych or Tsonga.

Thiem & Zverev in exactly the same Adidas jersey tops during their respective conferences. How coincidental was that? I tend to think Adidas paid them extra for the repetitive arrangement.
EDIT: and the identical arrangement of the drink bottles around microphones, too!

Adidas is German. All of the Germans (and maybe so Austrians) wear them.
