Displays like this are the reasons why Potro is so universally loved. I wished Petra and Potro would win the tournament. That would have been very special. Realistically, Halep and Nadal are the most likely to hold trophies next week. Let's see whether anyone stops them.

Del Potro is such a class act. I saw some of this earlier, but watching it again really makes me love the guy.

As for Almagro...dude, you don't need to be that upset, I mean it isn't like you have a shot at winning Roland Garros.

That's not fair Dude. It's not about winning the tourney. He's tired of being injured, period. Walk a mile in their shoes and you'd understand how upset you would be if every time you went to work you couldn't do your job because your body is not holding up.

This is by far the post of the year.. That was the most heartbreaking moment I have seen on the tennis court in a long time.. it reminds of the moment when the runner suffered an injury in the Olympic Games and his dad came out to assist his son ,the distraught runner around the track.so ne could complete his Olympic dream.

A very similar incident happen when Rafa and Nico met in Madrid. Most of this generation of players have competed against each other since they were young teenager players..I dont know if McEnroe goes over to help Ivan or vice versa 30 years ago

I remember that Olympic race. It was Derek Redmond and it was the end of his dream. An official tried to stop them but he and his dad got to the finish line. I felt weepy watching.

I know tennis is a tough physical sport and there will always be some injuries but it seems to me there are far too many these days. There is no pleasure in seeing these great young people wrecking their bodies and no satisfaction in seeing so many matches decided by retirements and walkovers.

That happened in Roma and Delpo yesterday diid the same that Rafa did and any player should do but to me the emotional part was to see Nico crying because the pain and because he was playing a good match until his knee (maybe his career too?) said "that's it", sad, very sad. After Roma he should have stopped to play taking better care with his knee

Its so often the promising players too, I guess because they play more and push harder. I don't watch much women's tennis but a few years ago we had a promising player in Laura Robson. She was so keen and doing well then a serious wrist injury wrecked her career. She is playing again but really struggling. There are so many stories of prematurely ended careers and of injuries that threaten every day well-being let alone sporting activity.

Some time ago I watched a fitness class at a UK tennis school. It was youngsters, I think about 14 - 15. They were doing yoga based exercises and I was not impressed with the approach. The exercises were being performed too quickly with poor alignment putting strain on back and joints. It didn't fill me with confidence about their physical preparation. Of course top players have their own coaches but a lot of damage could be done before they get to a level where they can afford such support.

Nadal just looks untouchable. Basilashvili is no titan himself, but he is getting murdered out there. Even the depth of his shots isn't that bad, but he just has no way to hurt Rafa.

That will be the big question for the next round. Del Potro had a tumble that was worrying today. Murray is still generally a question mark. I'd pick Delpo, if he doesn't have a groin issue.
according to l'Equipe, his adductor bothers him, hope it's not serious I want to see him vs Sir Andy, their matchs are usually good
about Goffin, it could be the end of season, his injury seems very serious, sad for him

Thiem is looking pretty imperious against Steve Johnson. Be interesting to see how he far he goes.

I've always said that injuries are more about bad luck than anything else, the incredible thing is the few ones which never has one or maybe just once?

Are you trying to say that Thiem will beat the new croc?
After the 6:1 6:0 beatdown on clay, no less?
Fat chance. But I wish he would prove me wrong. :D

Steve Johnson's fought his way back into this match with Thiem. Developed into a good match. Johnson is getting some good vibes from the crowd, I guess related to his recent family death.
