This is the final I picked to happen at the Open...it came a bit early. I am willing to give this one to the kid and take the Open win :)
Realistically, Roger got here with his C game and nothing short of his A- is winning this. Zverev is confident and looking for the opportunity and here it is.

Zverev lay down like a sacrifical lamb in Halle. I am really hoping he doesn't here.

I think Zverev was just flaked out in Halle. Fed said as much in an interview. Today is a tough match. Fed fan but Zverev is my nextgen gun.

Agreed! I'm not confident in the least... Roger has to play much much better tennis than he's played since frankly the Wimbledon semis. Anything less probably doesn't get it done. Not sure how Sasha plays in windy conditions. Anyone know?

Zverev had no prayer in Halle, probably the 2nd best match Fed played all year next to Rafa at IW. If Fed shows up anything like that he wins it for sure, but I wouldn't expect that type of performance. Zverev figures to have a decent chance but can't really pick against Fed winning at this point.

Roger's allowing him to play his baseline bashing game. Not going to end well. Thought he would be sinking the ball around and trying to run him around

LOL just tuned in and seeing Fed finally paying the piper.
AZ was lame in Halle, Fed riding on cupcake draws, about to be over.
Shap was playing AZ better than Fed.

Sorry, so much Fedal abuse on last site
all due respect

I left this alone in the name of peace but my impression of that match was AZ was useless on that day,. Fed just ok.

First blood to the kid 6-3. Impressive serving so far (especially the 2nd serves)

He's doing to Fed what he did to Novak earlier this year. Let's see if Fed rebounds in the 2nd set. Novak could not raise his level enough to take a set.

I have not seen Fed serving this bad, even in his off years. Usually, it was his return game that was bad in his bad years.

For some reason, through out this Montreal tourney his service was very bad and he got broken by everyone except Polansky (may be).
Now, the first serve% is ls than 50 and it sucks big time.

Seems like angry unshaven Desperate Dan Fed got dropped by Gilette. Maybe that's why he's playing crap :D He looks much better scruffy though. Should really be looking to scoop up the 1000 points on offer here seeing as he reached the final playing pretty horrendous (due to no practice since Wimbledon) but can surely only turn things up a gear now if he can even be bothered.

I had a feeling that Roger was going to lose this match because he's played like crap and served poorly all week. Give the kid credit for coming out and swinging for the fences - like Shapavolov's been doing all week. That's what more of these guys need to do - they have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

^ That's Zverev's only game plan though. I quite like his game but he's nothing more than a ball basher to be fair. No plan b.

Plan A looks like all he needs today. Roger not ready for this level yet it seems

AZ is beyond that, swinging for the fences. He's already won a 1000. This is just how he plays. He's still missing a lot of shots, actually, but Fed is so bad it doesn't matter.
Shap would have beat Fed too.
