I think Tsi (4, ranked 5) sensational loss to Hurkacz is on par with (or even bigger than) Kei loss to Gasqet. Anyone reckons Tsi is still not a firmly established great player, despite his high ranking, if he is so vulnerable?

Maybe you are selling your countryman short... Hurkacz is a very good player with loads of potential. On a good day, he can hurt anyone. I guess I posted a while back that I really expect him to make a lot of noise.

That is what the commentators also said. Dont't forget his age and he is trending up.
I also think Hurkacz will feature a lot.
I think he will be at least a solid top 20 player.

Indeed, I can see Hubert's got ranking 48 now and will likely move to at least 40 after his result in Montreal.
BTW what does (Alt) mark at his name in the draw mean?

I'm guessing it's alternate. So somebody probably dropped out allowing him to take their place.

Medvedev and Thiem moving through, beating Garin and Cilic respectively, to collide in the QF in the next round.

One of the gifts is to play a top 10 player, K. Khachanov.

Daniel Nestor and Jesse Levine are doing commentary of the match and they are critiquing the younger man relentlessly .One would think its a Serena match....

Then probably I am lucky to listen to Jimmy Arias.
I like him, he is a good and fair, unbiased commentator.

Nyah; the real gift is if he wins this match! A Masters 1000 event has a ton of points & $$$! :smooch: :p  :boxing: :ptennis:
While he is a great talent with big future, a master title for him is still I think too much to ask at this stage.
He has been in the SF in Miami, even repeating that in front of his home crowd, under such a pressure would be a wonderful achievement.

Now I want to see him break KK to get the set.

FAA is doing better against KK — a tall, powerful player — than I thought.

Shapovalov, Cilic and now Medvedev. What a sweet draw for Thiem.

I’m loving FAA’s Rafa-esque “Never give up, never surrender” attitude.
