Watson gets the break in the decider 3-1. Let's see if she can hold on this time.

back on track, Watson is receiving serve, ahead 2-1 in the deciding set. And she has a break point...
No more of this for me.

Masha/ Mugu and Caro/Klara started.
:)

Garbine is wearing the hot pink one piece Adidas dress Si Si Simona likes, boy it looks good on her.
Problem is half of the ladies are wearing that same outfit!

I really don't care for this blue/purple dress Masha is wearing.

If it looks good, it looks good. I don't mind seeing multiples of a great outfit. It's the hideous ones I wish they only made one. :D

Remember Kimmy and her Fila outfits?
Talking about hideous!

I gave up following the Watson/Cibby match, too treacherous for me!
:speechless:

Masha has her hands full here with Mugu!
I found a nice HD stream here:

Rogers Cup 2014: Caro vs. Klara

Caro is handling Klara with ease, she has never lost to her and it doesn't look like it's about to begin here either.
Ahead 2-1 in the second set, she won the first 6-1, Caro is serving.

OK, I lied, I was peeking... Wasn't Heather behind 0-3 in the deciding tie-breaker? She pulled it out! Won the Breaker, Domi the #10 seed is gone!

Caro got broken but broke back, ahead 3-2 in the second.

Garbine is serving for the set, ahead 5-4

Mugu challenged Maria's service game throughout the first set.

I forgot to mention Carla, Mugu's doubles partner, is trying to advance past Pliskova, ahead 5-3 and serving for the match, playing the deciding set.

Caro has 2 match points.

Can someone explain to me why a tennis player would hit a ball back to their opponent when the whole court is open? Especially when you've been burned a few times already. I've only been waiting about 40 years for a reasonable explanation.

Mugu starts the 3rd set with a double fault, not good. By now Masha must be in her head. Masha takes second set 6-3

I am looking at the scoreboard and every match is tight.

In the heat of battle, sh*t happens!

Is that a good explanation?

I have updates.

Lucie and Maddie take the first set, 6-4 was the score.

JJ is ahead 5-4, Sloane is serving to stay in the set.

Muguruza is underwhelming. If she can't beat Pova when her game is that off, she won't get far in this sport. Bad shot selection galore. Muguruza thought she was still on clay. She needs a new coach. How many tines did she hit down the center and miss long? Wow. Just horrible. I doubt I will watch many more of her matches.

In response to kskate's question, you hit to the person rather than the open court because you anticipate the opponent will move. This is effective on players who cover the court really well because you hit behind them or wrong foot them as it is called.
