New rankings for Monday, October 26, 2015.

Good to see Venus near the top ten again.

I agree. I wonder if it would be mathematically possible for her to get into the Top 8 before Melbourne?
She will have to jump 3 or 4 players, probably would have to go deep in a tournament before Mel. might be a stretch.

She has to defend a title in Auckland so it might be difficult.

Ah, yes. Thanks for the reminder. :)

After looking more closely, I don't think it would be even mathematically possible, nevertheless probable. As Kirijax pointed out, first she would need to defend Auckland (280 points), then she would need a few hundred more points to jump into the Top 8.

What's after Auckland? Sydney? Did Venus play there before the AO this year?

Even if she doesn't make it in, it is amazing what Venus has done this year to climb back into the Top 15.

Gawd I hope not! What would that say about the WTA when Sharapova and Williams can come and go as they please and still manage to stay in the top echelon? It ain't looking too good to have this go on year after year! :cover :nono

apparently Venus will be playing Zuhan and can gain points there...she will get 800 points if she wins the event and jumps into top ten..hopefully she plays Brisbane to get points.Venus deserves to go to Rio...

The problem is if she plays enough to get her ranking up, she risks being too physically spent by the time she gets to Melbourne.

If I had to choose, I would prefer she plays just Zhuhai and Auckland before going to the AO. While it would be advantageous to get into the Top 8 for a GS, I think the risk of the Sjogren's syndrome presenting problems is too high.

Yeah, Venus needs to pace herself. She admitted that she played too much trying to qualify for the WTA Finals. It is what it is and she would be better off not overdoing it before AO. But she will always be a very scary opponent for whoever she meets in the 4th round.

They should at least keep the BLT in the week before the WTA finals. Now, the "finals" becomes a misnomer and also those in positions 6, 7 or 8 might get displaced by somebody performing well
in BLT. :cover

This is one of Aga's complaints and I fully support her. It is a valid point.

Aga up one after winning the WTA finals. Garbine moves up too. Maria down to #4 but I don't think she'll have too many complaints following the WTA finals - she lost less matches than Aga.
