Rafa is 4th in the race and he's basically played no slams...

^ Yep another one there, missed a slam, out in 1st and 3rd round of the other two. He has played a lot of other tournaments though and done semi-decent at the MS events.

"No slams" as in two of the three? Or do you mean he's played crappily at the Slams he's been in?

He was out in the 1st round of one and had to withdraw after 2 rounds in the other. So basically that is no slams. He probably has about 100 points from those if that.

Everybody knows the results. The point is he played in those slams. Just because one did not get points in slams, you cannot say no slams. come on.

Gimme a break lads, you know what I mean. He lost in the first round in Oz, and withdrew with injury after two rounds in Paris. How many ranking points is that?

And he's still 4th in the race.

It's not rocket salad what I was saying...

I said "basically" no slams, which is a simple enough qualifier... ;)

True, saying "no slams" is misleading. Simply he has barely been around at any of them including the 2 he has played, though the 2nd one was of course due to withdrawing with a wrist injury.

I said "basically" no slams, signifying that what he played was virtually nothing - and yet he's #4 in the race after three slams have been played. You understand what i was staying, Darth, the rest of it's political... ;)

Andy has now officially qualified after his Wimbledon Win. The top eight are likely to come from the current top 14 listed below, who have accumulated 1400 points or more. Those who have qualified are in bold. The current cut off for qualification is 5845. But, it is expected to come down to somewhere between 3000 and 4000 at the end.

1 Novak Djokovic 8040
2 Andy Murray 7225

3 Milos Raonic 3835
4 Rafael Nadal 2930
5 Kei Nishikori 2905
6 Dominic Thiem 2835
7 Stan Wawrinka 2370
8 Tomas Berdych 2260
9 Roger Federer 2130
10 David Goffin 1995
11 Gael Monfils 1685
12 Roberto Bautista Agut 1580
13 Nick Kyrgios 1520
14 Jo Wilfried Tsonga 1440

Although Milos has not officially qualified, for all practical purposes it is impossible for him to not qualify. Given that all the slam winners of this year have already qualified in the normal route, if we have a surprise GS winner at USO (who is ranked in top 20), he would get a back door entry.

All of a sudden Andy is within spitting distance of catching Novak in points.

Roger slides down to #10 from #9 as Monfils overtakes him with Washington win. Goffin is also likely to overtake him at the end of this week by just living up to his seeding at Toronto.

Every time I pull a tape out to watch a match, the final has Murray and Djokovic! It's about time he started holding onto that #2 ranking starting with his run last season! I'm no fan of Murray's, but it seemed ridiculous for Roger to be hanging onto any ranking in the top 10; not winning much early last season, then out for weeks and months this one! Still holding out hope Roger misses London this fall; give someone else a chance; maybe one of the new bloods like Goffin or Thiem! "Go away Roger; you had your time!" :puzzled :nono

Keep dreaming. Assuming he does not have any new injuries, he will make it again.

You are so disgusting. Do you have to taunt and be stupid, even at this time?
You are lucky I won't attend the Rogers Cup, you are human trash.

Novak now leads Andy by 2090 in the race for yE #1 ranking (1815 + 275). It would be very difficult for Andy to surpass him, even though it looked possible a week ago.

Yeah, I don't know why Andy just gave that up. It could have livened up the tour.

The topsy turvy 2016 continues. If Andy can manage to win Cincy (both Roger and Novak are not there and Rafa is not that good on fast courts), Andy can again give Novak a run for the YE #1 Prize (especially if Novak's injury is on grey matter).
