I can’t even imagine wanting to compete at this point, but Djokovic like his matches long. What’s a never ending court case to him.
It is now going the distance like in 5 set matches....unless he and his lawyers discuss his other option, which I am certain they will put forward to him in their offices this afternoon.Judge Kelly also gave him the option last night.

Just confirmed that there will be a full federal court as Justice O'Callaghan stated.( meaning 3 judges)
That also means whoever loses this case cannot appeal with a full Federal Court.

So the government lost that battle?

There is also the optics that if he does some how beat this then there is also the narrative that can be told that Australia is sexist as the other people who were denied entry were women. That would be a very ugly headline to add to this mess.

Even as a Novak fan (among other players) it seems clear that he sabotages his lofty goals by his personal behavior---first the US Open when he unintentionally hit a line judge with a ball (but showed a lack of control of his emotions ) and now this debacle. He arguably could have had 22 slams by the end of this AO (not a certainty) vs. remaining tied with his rivals at 20. The most confusing thing to me is what was his AO strategy if he HADN'T gotten a positive covid test in mid-December? That, plus the inaccurate statement on his visa form and having public appearances/interviews after testing positive, show a blatant disregard for others and selfishness. When you are a top tennis player interacting with others on a regular basis, it is not a matter of "personal choice" not to get vaccinated and still expect to play and interact--it's just stubbornness and stupidity.
They don't stop the transmission one bit since Omicron so it's not stupid and actually well researched on his part. I'd personally argue he's right not to given the data coming out that they're destroying the immune system but he's definitely messed up in other ways with his AO happenings this year. Get vaccinated and get covid anyway doesn't make much sense, especially for a very fit athlete. Imagine he's all too aware of what happened to Jeremy Chardy not to mention the footballers dropping dead every few days. The biggest issues of course were all the inaccurate statements you mentioned on his visa and mingling with people while positive.

Have a feeling Roland Garros might follow the same vaccinated players only route given the mess in France no thanks to Macron so he may find himself in trouble there too but who knows. Wimbledon definitely won't and the USO probably won't at this stage either.

He might find himself in trouble in a lot of places depending on how places see fit to move forward especially events like concerts and sporting events may have higher scrutiny.

Sounds much the same as the AO debacle then! Tiley says yay and Hawke says nay. Macron will have the final there I reckon. I hope they won't go down this route anyway. Even some of their own players like Herbert would be out then.

Macron appears to be 'on the nose' in France presently,.A lot of unrest and demonstrations against his government. Will be interesting how he will react.

So hold on, this is getting worse and worse.

so Alex hauke, apparently, on court papers, admits djokovic had a valid medical exemption? And he is also not even going after the error in visa application? So his main reason is novak is a high profile person who as an anti-vaxer presents a threat? Wtf!!!

‘But following a change in tact from Australia's government, it is reported that Djokovic DID have a valid medical exemption and that immigration minister Alex Hawke will instead focus on his status as a high profile unvaccinated person and the threat that could have to public health and public order.’

Never heard of a court case been held on Sunday. Is this normal in Australia or it's just this crazyness with Novak?

Probably the time frame as the Australian Open starts Monday to at least give a chance to defend himself before it starts to show a bit of fairness.

Even vaxxed, don't they require a negative PCR test before you can board the plane?
PCR negative test results 100 percent before entering the US regardless of citizenship status. I would assume the same is for Australia.
