Thar was Gold Moxie!!!!!!!!!! Post of the Year so far:)
Thanks, Margaret! I will accept your award gratefully, on behalf of all the little people that made it possible. Who I don't give a rat's a$s about. I'll just swan around until tomorrow when someone says something much more clever. ;)

So no decision yet? Or are they still getting their ducks lined up for a battle?

Haven't even checked the draw yet due to this saga. Ridiculuos!
I have to say it’s taken away from the event for me as well. It kinda puts tennis into a different perspective, with serious real world issues getting pushed aside to satisfy a players hunger, greed, mania, ambition, take your pick, but it makes it all seem a little pointless in a way…

Not until the end of the tourney. So if the AO bombs, they can wrap all that failure up on CT with a bow and hang it around his neck.
I’d argue those conditions have already been met, before a single point has been played. Enough people can already see he was essentially the source of all of this, with his inaccurate statements to Novak. But I agree they’ll wait until the end of the tournament before taking action.

Would it also be possible for an outcome to arrive after the tournament like say a 3 year ban from entering Australia.

That would be in the hands of Alex Hawke if he decided to bring a ban of 3 years, also it would depend why he re-cancelled his visa again

The NYT doesn’t place blame on Tiley. There was poor coordination between federal and state with regard to exemption/entry rules. The biggest share of blame falls on Kelly. All this could have been avoided if he just gave a reasonable verdict. His take on this was so egregious, it is as though he were on Djoke’s payroll.

The Govenment is probably trying to figure out the best way to engage, so that Novak doesn’t seem to get by on another technicality.
If they're going to bother, it surely has to be airtight, and someone did say that Djokovic's lawyers bombarded Hunt with paperwork day before yesterday, or something, so there is a lot to sift through.

I read this from CNN today which explained why the judge ruled in Novak's favor:

Why the judge ruled in his favor: The government hadn't given Djokovic enough advance notice about the cancellation of his visa or time to prepare materials in his defense, the judge said. After his arrival, Djokovic was told he would have a few hours to prepare — but the government decided to cancel his visa before the deadline they had given.

That made it a bit clearer to me. So that really does imply that the government could and should revisit it, now that he's had a week to pull his paperwork together. The wording above makes it sound more like a temporary stay than the last word on the visa status.

The Federal rules to entry are clear...it was AO and the Victorian Health department that 'stuffed up" granting an medical exemption when it was the exact opposite of what our Federal Health Minister stated....no medical exemption for anyone who had COVID within 6 months....both TA and Victorian Health chose to ignore 2 letters sent in November 2021.

Punchy line from Stefanos Tsitsipas,

"Novak Djokovic has been playing by his own rules".
"We've all followed the protocols to compete in Australia----and a very small minority chose to follow their own way which makes (us) look like fools".

I wouldn’t read too much into it, the NYT has become trash, and they have had to eat crow a lot lately.
