This has been happening to me all summer, but your dates are off by a week! There aren't two weekends left. The draw ceremony is in less than 2 days, and first day of main draw tennis is in 6 days. There's no point in waiting until the weekend and the schedule, because if the policy doesn't change by Friday, it won't change over the weekend. Plus, he'd still have to get here, and he could be on the schedule for Monday.

That said, if he doesn't withdraw by 12noon (I think) ET on Thursday, then the draw will be made with him in it. When Murray withdrew after the draw was made in 2017, they put Cilic in his slot, and I believe the LL got Cilic's slot. But some people won't be happy with him messing up the draw again.
Sorry, you’re right! It’s happening to me all summer too :astonished-face:

I have to keep checking me watch!:lulz1:

Okay so then if I were him I’d still wait till the last minute. I’m sure he has fights booked and he’s sitting by the phone. I’d sit there until it’s too late, just to be sure. I wouldn’t be too concerned about the effect this has on the draw or schedule, despite the fact that it’s a hopeless hope.

I wouldn’t care if people are unhappy with me for this, if I were Djoker…

Novak doesn't owe anyone anything! Who's backing him and his decision? Whether it's right or wrong, no one likes t/b on "the outs!" :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :fearful-face::face-with-tears-of-joy:

BTW on Novak's website there is no mention of him playing the USO, just DC for Serbia and Laver Cup
There is still no time on Thursday for the singles draw
I dont know why he hasn't officially withdrawn, he has says he understands he cannot compete in countries, though like in other draws this year, when he knew he could no compete, he either left it to the last minute or at IW when the tournament officials have to contact him and his team to officially withdraw?......he has only a couple of day to officially withdraw also they have started playing qualifiers at the USO now.
Quite frankly he does himself no favors carrying on like this, in other circumstances, illness or injury a player at the last minute has to withdraw, when the draw is made, that is acceptable, though he knows he cannot compete.

I'm going to take this over to the thread about Novak's visa issues, so the Admin's don't have to move. See you over there. :)

Like @TheSicilian, I don't frequent Twitter much, but I went on today and there is a lot of debating whether Djokovic should wait as long as he can to withdraw, which is @Kieran's position. I started writing this, and saw he had posted on the ATP News thread, but I'm bring it back over here, since it does have its own thread, and it looks like this will drag out a few days. I suppose he may as well wait until the last minute. There's probably even a private plane on stand-by. I doubt he will completely ruin the draw if he has to pull out. It's not like he's #1 or #2 seed.

Anyway, I was about to post that I saw on twitter that someone was all up in arms that tennis wasn't supporting one of its greatest players. Again, to point out, that people don't seem to know the difference between the position of tennis on vaccination, and the position of countries on vaccination and immigration. Tennis Australia did not prevent Novak Djokovic from playing. Indian Wells did not prohibit Novak from playing. The Rogers Cup in Canada did not deny him entry, nor did Cincinnati, and neither is the US Open preventing him from playing. The ATP has not sanction unvaccinated players, nor has the ITF. Individual countries make their own policies on Covid vaccination and entry into their country. Novak knows this. He can choose to get vaccinated, and follow their rules, or he can accept that he will not be able to play tennis in their country. He plays lip-service to accepting the consequences, but he's happy on twitter to encourage those who advocate on his behalf.

^^This has been going on all year. Fanboys are not rationale. They are upset because the countries in question won't ease their restrictions. I don't believe they are confusing tennis organizations w/ government policy. They just like to whine and complain so their frustration is directed at all parties no matter their level of involvement.

Personally, I am completely over this. They are not going to change the policy before the USO which starts in 6 days. They are fully aware of all hoopla around the USO and Djoke's desire to play. If they were going to ease restrictions that affected the USO, they would have done it already. The sensible time to do it would have been around Aug 1.

The Delusional Novak fans have been "on it' since he could not play in Canada and Cinncy and now because of the USO,
They have also blamed Rafa and Roger and the "kitchen sink' because he is not allowed to play the USO.
I suggest you stay off Twitter unless take some type of medication to numb the pain of these lunatics before you go on Twitter again:)

No player is bigger than the sport of tennis, that includes Novak Djokovic.

Read my post to you before you posted this, I am saying exactly the same thing...I mean we all go round and round in circles
He does not deserve a free pass, he chose not be vaccinated, end of conversation.

The draw on Thurs. will almost certainly be at noon US ET. Let's ask @the AntiPusher, what time that is in Oz, because surely he'll be an expert on what day and time it is in Australia by now, having asked you so many times. Let's NOT ask @Kieran, because he doesn't even know what day it is in Ireland. As a kibitz, I'll say 2am on Friday, Sydney time, if that helps.

Personally, I find it self-serving for him to declare that he will not vaccinate, and that he accepts the consequences, and then, at the same time, keep the Novak Nation whipped up, and all of us wondering.

The thing is He Does Not Accept the Consequences okay? he has been on Twitter showing himself practicing on a US Hard Court? which whips up his Delusional Fans into more lunacy!!!!!
If he did he would have withdrawn officially from the USO by now? Stop Giving Him a Free Pass, he did this before and stuffed up the draw at IW, the officials had to get in touch with him and his team to withdraw,

Who is giving him a free pass?

Novak has not accepted that he cannot play at the USO , if he did he would have officially withdrawn by now, you seem to think he has accepted it.
What, of anything I have posted, would imply that I think he has accepted it? I have called him self-serving (once again) for pretending to accept his fate and stand by his position, and yet, at the same time, whip up his faithful on social media in service of his cause. Perhaps you missed the difference in there. I've also said that Kieran thinks he should wait until the last minute, and others on social media do, as well. I have not said that is my position. Please read back more carefully. I can't restate all of it.

I can read by the way and comprehend I dont need your lectures thank you., also if I make spelling errors, which you like to pick up.
Calling him Self Serving does not equate to him accepting that he cannot play at the USO
If he did accept it, he would have withdrawn by now., that is what I have said from the first instance.
End of Conversation as I am Over Discussing Novak, as none is greater than the game of tennis and that includes Novak!

Novak will probably withdraw at the last moment, like he has done in the past,!
He is trying until the last minute, I would love to know what excuses he is doing what I don’t think it’s working and meanwhile there are other players waiting for his withdrawal
