I personally think the Zverev-Sinner and Medvedev-Sinner matches were overrated. To me, the best match of the season was Ben Shelton laying down the comprehensive beatdown of Frances Tiafoe in the US Open quarterfinal. That was the moment when I knew for sure that Shelton's game was for real, and that he is going to be something special. (Remember, Tiafoe went toe-to-toe with Alcaraz at the US Open last year. Tiafoe never had a chance against Shelton, who dominated from start to finish.)
Zverev -Sinner overrated ? You need to rewatch the US Open qtrs was a masterpiece

And with that loss, I wonder if the mentally delicate Rublev will implode and go 0-3.
I feel it is the match up quite frankly with Meddy, Rublev's 2nd serve is a liability in his game,
Rublev will meet Alcaraz for the first time, though I feel Alcaraz has more weapons to his game than Rublev, hopefully Alcaraz adjusts better to the faster conditions, in his match with Rublev, than he did against Zverev

The big haired dude issues is he needs to man up and quit loosing his mental focus over a single point. Rublev displays more emotion in one single match than Pete Sampras ever did in his entire career.

It was the Round of 16 (4th round) but that's a nitpick. The QF didn't go too well for Zverev.
This is exactly why the 4th round match between Zverev and Sinner was overrated. Zverev didn't follow it up in the next match. That is who he is at this point. Whereas you can see a clear improvement with Ben Shelton. He could have rested on his laurels with his big win against Tommy Paul, but he put that beatdown of Tiafoe and gave Novak Djokovic a tough match in the semifinals. I know for a fact that Shelton is going to learn from this experience, and I wouldn't be surprised if he actually beat Djokovic the next time they face. I'm not so sure Zverev will learn anything from that experience, and if given the same situation, he would produce a similar result.

I bet you Zverev loses his next match. I can't remember the last time he followed up a big win.

I thought you were referring to the quality of tennis between Zverev and Sinner not how the winner's progress during his subsequential matches for the rest of the tournament..my apologies I misunderstood your post

I was getting ready to begin watching Rune/Tsitsipas, and noticed the score online: Tsitsipas retired after just 3 games. Anyone see what happened?

He retired do to problems with his back. Rune offered to play a set against one of the alternatives instead but the rules say no. So there will be a short meaningless match between the two alt. The audience is pissed.

So somehow Rune managed to transfer his back problems to Tsitsipas. Clever!

Before Tsitsipas retired, Annacone was talking about Rune's stamina and cramping, and said something very interesting. He said it's not fitness. He says that because he's an emotional guy, "high-strung," and he hasn't yet learned to manage it, that it drains him. He started to say that he wastes energy, but corrected himself. He says he loves and admires the fire, just that he has to manage it better. Which is interesting, because when Carlos cramped up at RG v. Djoker, he said it was emotional, not physical. I guess because they're hitting the big stages so young, it's not something we see very often.

I only saw the end of the press conference, so not sure if he explained the injury, but he said that the YEC is the most important tournament of the year for him, "even more than the Slams." Does that boy just talk out of his a$$ all the time? He says the weirdest things.

This is true but have a container of mustard nearby will lessen the onset of muscle cramps

He does waste too much emotion in his matches, still my point was the match up with Alcaraz, who has more weapons in his game than Rublev, I dont mind players showing some emotion, though not when it interferes with their game

Remember this tournament is special to him, he has won it before, of course it it more important to him than winning a GS title presently:)
