Tsitsipas has an edema in the lower back and that the pain started in Shanghai, there were reports in practice before the tournament started he was having elbow problems

I only saw the end of the press conference, so not sure if he explained the injury, but he said that the YEC is the most important tournament of the year for him, "even more than the Slams." Does that boy just talk out of his a$$ all the time? He says the weirdest things.
This guy, eh? Instead of giving a chance to a 1st replacement on time he just pulled out too late. Is Hurkacz a 1st replacement? Given how fast is the court and his current form, he would have a much bigger chance here than the greek drama queen with non existing ROS and a decent BH (including the slice).

Don,
I find it strange that in his warm up, Tsitsipas, didnt have issues with his lower back, especially if he has a edema in that area,? I will give him he benefit of the doubt, maybe it did flare up more when he started the match.

I think he needs a trip to gulag for a few months, perhaps this off season. Maybe only then he will know what he wants in his life.

If Hubie is entering into the mix this late in the round robin, Rune should be forced to play him. To only play three games and quit Steffie?? My backside.

What maybe you and I were watching a different match,:) clean kill by my young Italian, facing no BPs in the match, his serve on fire, which the Greek could not return
All players at this time of the year are carrying niggling injures, I get that, what I dont understand is why would he not withdraw before his match with Rune if he had a edema in his lower back which has been ongoing since Shanghai? did he think the edema was going to quickly disappear? I dont think so:)

It is in my book, he Sinner faced no BPs at all, his serve on fire, even The Greek said he could not return it, also as most players do just attack that weak BH of the Greek.and you get the UFE, lets move on, he lost, I am now watching my young Italian against Novak

Maybe Stefanos should start a new career as a romance novel cover model. I mean, Fabio must be ancient by now.

Nice save by Sinner after that incredible cross-court backhand from Novak to get a break-point.

Seriously? You qualify for the competition of the 8 best in the world so off course you try everything to compete. Hurkatz had his chance the while year to qualify and Steph doesn't own him or anyone else anything. Hevwas told by his trailer that it was ok for him to play.,Anything could have happened. Rune could have been injured too. I think Rune said it well. None of us is in his body and know how he feels.
