What's so interesting about Sinner's wins over Djokovic, Alcaraz and Medvedev in the past of couple weeks is that he has won at least 1 tiebreaker against the Top 3 players!

I would have never imagined that Sinner will win tiebreakers against the Top 3 players in the world!

Here are TB scores in those matches:

7-6(4) against Alcaraz
7-6 (2) 2x against Medvedev in Beijing final
7-6 (7) against Medvedev in Vienna Final
6-7(5) and 7-6(2) against Djokovic

4-1 in tiebreakers against the Top 3 players in the world!

In fact, Sinner is 8 -3 in tiebreakers since he started his run at Beijing. I would never imagined him winning 8 TBs especially against the Top players!

Anyways, BY FAR the biggest win of Sinner's career! Sinner and his team KNEW that the ultimate test of skill/lesson is to defeat Novak Djokovic. It is why when Sinner finally closed the match, you could tell he was relieved! He knew he needed to win the match instead of allowing Djokovic to win the match. This is the type of win that can finally instill great confidence to Sinner at Slams starting in 2024!

In addition, now that Sinner has beaten Djokovic, Cahill probably will tell his pupil just to remain healthy for Davis Cup AND start preparing for 2024 AO. In my opinion, while winning ATP Finals will be nice for Sinner, I think it will be better for him to focus on Davis Cup and prepare for the 2024 AO physically and mentally fit.
Are you giving up on the title here??!!

Somewhat yes just because I trust more about the process than anything. Also, my expectations for Sinner before the tournament is a SF maybe even a F appearance. Him beating Djokovic AND reaching the SF/F is the best scenario for him and myself.

Now, I will be happy of course if Sinner wins the title at Turin, but I view a bigger picture. Stay healthy for Davis Cup Final and get ready for 2024 AO!

Fair enough, but I have always thought he had a good chance at the title, even before the win today. Would be a great way to go into 2024!

Sinner will definitely play at a high level for the rest of tournament. But the way he has played at Slams this season and results wise, Cahill will definitely coach Sinner to focus on the bigger picture while of course playing at high level currently.

Well I hope Sinner can sustain it! For now, I'm just going to take it as being "on a heater!" We've seen it B4 w/ Tiafoe, Fritz, & FAA remember? :fearful-face:

This could be fun, especially since they’ve never played.

This is how I picture the locker room before their match. (I’ll let everyone decide for themselves which player is Capone.)

Could you please post an interview of Sinner after one of his wins over Nadal?

Oh wait, he has none. :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Healthy Nadal is indeed too strong. :bye:
Now you’re simply trolling again. Rafa is not at this tournament, so there’s little reason to discuss him at all in this particular thread for this tournament. There are other threads for that.

Well said Jannik 'it is part of the process' in your development as a player, that was shown in this match against Novak, the biggest win of your career so far!
It's a great win, but I'm more interested in seeing how he follows it up. I've seen too many times, by Zverev, Medvedev, and several others, where they get a big win like this, only to lay an egg in the next match.

Impressive win by Sinner, he rose to the occasion and delivered in last set TB. He is upping the gears as we speak. This very fast surface suits him too.

So as it stands now, Novak needs to win against Hubi in 2 sets in order not to worry about the outcome of Rune-Sinner match. It's hard to see Rune demolish Sinner and somehow go through on games percentage. Novak's chances do go down if he plays 3 sets against Hubi. This round robin stuff is quite interesting.

I found this for a green group outcomes:

Honestly, since this whole tournament is done by ranking, I don't think that's unfair.
Yeah but once the draw is done and the tournament starts, they should only be separated by the merits of what they achieve in that tourney. IMO…

Agreed. I doubt very much Sinner comes out playing even close to the same level against Rune. If Holger is opportunistic, he wins it. Then Hubie takes down the deflated Serb? Rune could win the group. (Again, imo, Holger should have been made to play Hubie. 3 games with the Greek wasn’t even a real warm-up).
