Yes, first set Daniil.
Tight first set, but the running FH of Daniil for the 5:3 lead in the TB was huge and decisive!

Yes, two break lead for Daniil , 3:0.
Currently clearly the better player.
Russian Risks more, Nadal too passive in my opinion.

This never was or will be Nadals surface or game-speed. He could be happy there is no indoor HC slam ever.

Yes, because it's pure tennis. No sun or wind or 98-degree temperatures or funny stadiums or awkward bounces. It's about making shots in an ideal environment and it is very, very difficult for him.

On other hand, Djokovic and Federer could be happy that half of the slams are played in hard courts or the the World Tour Finals are not played in clay courts.

Wow; Rafa needing to save a match point in his 2nd RR to Medvedev and to stop his drop to 0-2 in the YEC event needed to retain #1! :lol3:

I wouldn't celebrate too much because Djokovic completely blew it yesterday and he is going to have a very tough match on his hands with Federer tomorrow. Losing to Thiem made tomorrow's match much more difficult.

Here goes Medvedev, blowing another lead against Nadal. He might choke this match away just like he squandered the USO final.
The only lead he had in that match was 1-0 in the 5th. You are deluded that he "squandered" that match.

This would be Sascha "choke" territory if Daniil were to drop this match with such a lead! Zverev had about the same thing happen to him several years ago; MP and systematically let the match go which is why he was 0-5 vs Rafa until recently! :nono:  :banghead: :cuckoo:

Let’s just say they all can be very happy for what they achieved and how!

You are conveniently omitting that he had multiple break points early in the 5th and that he also got broken after being up 40-0 in the 2-3 game because he made a bunch of lazy errors. He also got an early break in the first set but folded afterward.

Medvedev often has passive stretches in his play where his level sinks.....that cost him the US Open final which he should have won going away in the 5th set. As always, the gnat lingers to make you pay if you go through lulls because his effort and concentration never waver. That's why the gnat beat Medvedev in the USO final.

Not conveniently omitting anything. We've discussed that match at length. If anything proves that going down that early break wouldn't have "given" Meddie that match, it's this one.
